Default sand blast cabinet question.

i have a harbor freight blast cabinet that i got on sale to do some parkerizing prep with. one problem, THE POS air compressor i am using just wont keep up. the air pressure drops to fast and causes obvious problems. what do i need to get for a replacement compressor without killing my bank account to run this thing???????

probably at least a 10CFM compressor at the minimum as they tend to rate them generously, check craigs list and such for a god used one

I have the same problem. I have an old worn out air compressor setting in the barn and have been toying with the idea of stripping everything off the tank and connecting it to my 30 gl or so air compressor I'm using now. Will this work or will it just make my compressor run longer with no increase in "use" time?

While a larger tank will give you more 'use time', a larger capacity compressor is needed for long run times.I am facing the same dilemma.
A top feed design instead of bag/tank siphon helps a LOT!

Default sand blasting

My wife bought me one of those cheap oil less craftsman compressors, very noisy, it probably would have worked if I had a dust free room to run it in, but out here there is no such thing as dust free, I rebuilt the stupid thing a half dozen times, then I forgot to turn it off when I went out of town for a week end, when I got back the thing had blown itself up, I got lucky and found a huge old unit from a truck stop that was closing down, so I plumbed both tanks together, with both tanks full you can do a lot of sand blasting, the chep unit was a 50 gallon tank and the old one was an 80 gallon tank, volume seems to be a major factor.

Check cragislist or ebay for old compressors. Also, if you know any demo guys they may come across some built in systems if they do any type of industrial tear down.
