What exactly does the battery box do? Illuminated optics? Does it use a easy to get battery or common voltage?

The box uses 4 D cells. It illuminates the reticule and has a hand held light with a momentary switch.

it only needs 2 D cells to run the lights, the other two are spares, all you have to do when the light dies is unscrew the top and turn it 180* for a fresh set of batts I had to replace my contacts with some i made up on the workbench as the originals were making good contact with the + side.

German made post war Infantry Tripod complete with optic . Each comes with original scope and case.

Must not have a battery box anymore but they are $249.95.
You need to use an adapter to mount the 1919 to these. Various people including myself make these for sale on this forum. This is a great platform for mounting the 1919 to! Nice price on a NOS one too! Forced me to pick up another one - thanks alot!

If you have a battery box, here is a pic of the instructions translated into english that was included with the original box.

I recieved my tripod today. I paid $250 and recieved the battery box and scope. I am happy with what I got for the price I paid. I&O however calling this "new unissued" is a BLATANT LIE!!

The canvas and leather on my tripod was clearly worn. One of the leg releases was dimpled from being used (had to be straightened to operate) The tripod has scratches throughout which I might be convinced is from improper storage over the years. The worn finish on the T&E knobs can only be caused by one thing IMO though, human hands turning the dials!

Two of the ones we got were unissued, the other two we didn't open yet. Some friends and I got a few, the very first one we got had nicer paint than the one we opened from the second shipment of 3, but for the price who can complain. I guess its the luck of the draw, who knows what the other 2 we have are going to be.

Like I said for the price I am more than happy. I&O however should call them very good+ or something like that. The canvas on mine has dime sized wear holes in it and the leather pillow has stitching to repair a hole. The metal pieces look very good, the scope and battery box look unissued.

Did your shipping box look the same as TagUrIt's ? His looks factory fresh. Mine showed up yesterday & the box looks the same as Tag's. I haven't opened it yet but from the looks I'm guessing it going to be brand new/NOS

yes it came exactly like that. A ton of green tape, box in a box, sealed foil packing, 2 layers of VCI paper. Used stuff inside
