Default Short or Long Action

I have a Remington 700 BDL Varminter Delux I bought back in the 70s in 22-250. Still in the box. Was looking to buy a scope mount and scope. I have to choose between short and long action for scope mount. Gut feel would be short but I don't want to order the wrong mount. Anyone know which action this would be?

Default short or long

well now , that is a good quandry because in the 70's they started making the short action. see if the action size is lasrge enough( not the magazine well unless you take out a block) is large enough to accomodate a 3006 or 270. if so ychances are its a long action. Heck look in the magazine well and see if there is a filler. If so then it is a long action.

Used to have one I bought in the late 60s that was a short action. Most accurate rifle I ever owned. 1/2 MOA out of the box with a V12 Weaver. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it. The .22-250 is one of the best varmite cartridges around.

Regards,
Tom

My 2506 BDL Varminter is a 1/2 moa gun with a weaver V10 - and it is also from the 70s. They just don't make them like that any more

on my 700, I have seperate mounts, not just one solid one in order to mount my scope.
