I remember seeing something a few years back that the Chinese made using .410 caliber shotshells. but nothing like the 1919....I don't think 12ga would be the best pick for a 1919 conversion....perhaps 20ga?

Before you get too far into this project........ think ATF...... think street sweeper......... think Destructive Device......... I would do some research before sinking allot of money into this type of project.

I wanted someone else to do all the R&D and money spending. Then, If its all legal I want to copy it. It would be so much fun its probably illegal.

I think if the designer focused on the 20g round....he could use the cloth
50BMG belts that are available from IMA. They would need to be opened up in the neck area but at least it would be a start.

yeah , i dont know about all the legal issues but it seems a 410 conversion would be pretty easy to do on a 1919 with some mods here and there, but a 12 or even 20 ga would take a lil more re-working....i dunno, but it would be pretty wild!!!

this was tossed around for a good bit before the big site crash......

and the DD conversation came up then too..

a 410 would probably be a better alternative and cheaper to shoot.

Seems to me I recently saw a drum magazine for the Saiga type shotgun. Thought that was rediculous due to the weight factor, but a belt-fed? Hmmmm....

I suppose shooting slugs might be a reason to try it, but I don't see much use for an Imp. Cyl. 38 lb. [plus tripod] grouse/dove/pheasant slayer :D

I have to think ATF would not look favorably on such a venture though......

Now There's a THOUGHT!!

.410 or 28 ga. would be my choice for an A4. I don't think an AA12 would hold up too long with a belt feed device. This might be a project for Valerie while she files for bankruptcy. LOL
Thanks ouchman!!

Think I'll contact Shotgun News and see about an ad. "Now Accepting Deposits for all NEW Belt Fed, 10 Guage Magnum, GATLING GUNS!!!" "Introductory Price ONLY $89,500.00 + Shipping!!"

Definite POSSIBILTIES!!!!

Thanks,
Emory Jones

...The legal side of the equation is easy to address. Just etch an outline of a hunting dog on the sideplate with ( what's left ) of a pigeon hit by, oh say, 7-10 rounds. Then fill the etching with gold ( pigeon grade ) and make sure you put " FOR SPORTING PURPOSES ONLY " on there somewhere. It'll slide right through the compliance branch...Oh, sorry, but not bayonette lug. :p

if the zombies get close enough to mt belt fed 12 ga that i need to use a bayonet then there are far greater issues to deal with.

...Human wave attacks or, as you prefer, Zombie wave attacks. Maybe even honk-and-wave attacks, the worse kind. Could be you'll get lucky and they'll waive the wave and just honk, but you better be prepared to be pared, sliced and diced if you ain't got no pigsticker ( Moslem countries exempt ) on the end of your muskit's muzzle.
...This is nothing to fool around with, Rory. I can hear the muttering mullah's massing on the border EVEN AS I TYPE !!!!!!

No-no...... They'll get you with the market hunting laws....... that's why you can't hunt with a 4ga. or 8 ga. or a punt gun it just ain't sport'n....

Now on the other hand...... on a 42 pod set up for trap & skeet that would be sporting! It would be good practice for AA defense too :D
