I picked up a 1917 backplate- grips are thrashed. They look alot like Colt SAA. Are they? If not, does anything else cross to them?

Where did you get your 1917 backplate/grips? Were they wood or bakelite?

SARCO has 1917 back plates and Ohio Ordnance has new grip panels.

I pulled it out of the box it came in and when I pulled out the packing a second set of grips came out- they're like new. I think I'll take the first set I have and use them for a pattern to carve another set. I have a piece of snakewood sitting here that would make an interesting grip.
