Hi gang,

I have a 1917A1 tripod that is in disassembled condition except for the elevation mechanism! It has been prepped also! I need someone to disassemble the T & E ( it is stuck ) and then paint, park, or refinish the tripod, & naturally reassemble.
Does anyone know what company or business or private person that does this type of work????

Bruce :)

Sure, just send it to me and I'll take care of it.... I'll also give it a good home for you. :D Forever!! Mwwaaahhhh hahahaha!!! ;) J/K.

Seriously though, you really should be able to do it yourself. It's just going to take some time and elbow grease. Most people on here are so busy with their own projects that it leaves little time to do "extra" ones. Good luck though. I've always wanted to get my hands on a nice project 1917 pod.

Bruce, there was a fellow on the board who posted as "The Faz" or something like that. He was doing tripod restorations for a fair price. He might have the tools needed and be able to help out with that elevating mechanism. Try to contact him through his profile in the members list.

BruceA4,
As stated above, You should be able to finish it up with a little effort. There isnt really much to the tripods once you break them down. I have done a few for myself over the years and they dont take that long. As far as the elevation mechanism, if you get the tools from bmgparts, you will get it apart. it is pretty straight forward. I dont know anyone who does restorations but the above advise of who to look for that was doing them sounds like a good place to start if you dont want to attempt it yourself.

...want to trade....?

Bruce....if the task seems too daunting....would you consider a trade for a Colt 1928 restored tripod...? My 1917A1 will not fit on it w/o a major modification.....so I realy need a good 1917 tripod,as I don't want to destroy this nice Colt 1928 tripod. Offer is also open to anyone else who might want this option.....
