There are probably several older manuals that cover the M1917A1 Tripod. The most available one is probably TM 9-1005-212-35, September 1965. Reprints are available from several sources. I am not sure if it tells how to take them apart but it does show and identify all the parts. I thought it might have been avaialble on this site as a download but that is a different manual (TM 9-1005-212-25). I think at one time Numrich was selling the TM. You may have to do a search under Army Technical manuals.

If anyone has such a TM remember that as a government publication which is not classified there is no copywrite so making a copy, via a pdf does not violate any laws. However, any such manual you bought probably has enough changes incorporated (such as that title page inserted which states who you got your copy from) that posting that would violate copywrite laws.

I have the manual but unfortunately do not have a scanner. The manual is 101 pages and would take a while even with a scanner that works. If someone really needs copies of the portion on the M1917A1 tripod I could copy the pages and mail them but I think somebody has to be selling reprints of the manual.

For information purposes the pages that cover the M1917A1 tripod are P 12-15 (figure 1-10 to 1-13) and pages 83-87 list the nomenclature and part numbers.
