I ordered a belt loader in 3006 from OOW. What I recieved is an Argentine hopper style loader. Is this correct, will it load and corectly place in the belt the 3006 cartridge?
Am I going to have to hog out the hopper drop feed area to fit the 3006 cartridge?... it seems short to me... ie it fits 12o gr rn rounds but not the 173 gr stuff from cmp:confused:

I believe those Argentine 1928 Belt Loaders will only load 8mm, 7.65 Argentinian and .308. They were originally designed to load 7.65 Argentinian, and OOW modified them to also do 8mm and .308 (should be a rubber t-shaped thingy in the box. It's for .308). Like you said, the 30.06 round is too long. OOW has 1918 loaders, so if you want to do 30.06, I would return it for a 1918 loader. Call OOW and ask for Tor. He's the belt loader guru at OOW and he'll do you right.

They are both $1000. The Argentine loaders come in the original box, are already modified for .308 and 8mm, and look to be in excellent condition. The 1918 loaders are setup for 30.06 and 8mm, and are really nice too, but don't have a box. OOW says they will have the 1918 conversion for .308 in about a month.

One note about the Argentine loaders, IMO the quality is not at the level of the 1918 loaders or the Colt 1928 loaders.

Here's some pics of the Argentinian 1928 loader.

Loader return

OOW said they would take it back then ship me another. Im thinking the 1918 is my only choice, but am wondering if the "colt" model 1928 will do 30-06, and if so if this is what I should ask for. Should I ask for anything to be hand picked for on the 1918 loader? Tia

The design and dimensions of the Colt 1928 is the same as the Argentinian 1928, so they both won't do 30.06. For 30.06, you must use the 1918 loader.

When you call OOW, ask for Tor. He can help you if you have some specific condition requirements.
