First, you'll need a .308 barrel.
And I'll be GLAD to TRADE one of my .308 barrels for a .30-06 barrel!

The first question I have is regarding the gun you have. If you have a gun built on an Israeli modified kit, then it's just a matter of the barrel, booster and cartridge spacers to convert. Just follow the tutorial linked above.
If it is USGI spec, there is one issue you will have to consider when converting to 308.A USGI gun will work fine in 308 with the 30-06 belt holding and feed pawls, but the right rear cartridge stop will make things interesting. It gets in the way of link ejection unless the 308 rounds are just barely inserted deep enough for the links to hold them. That's a pain, trust me. The Israeli right rear stop solves this problem. I'd consider that change, but you should not need to adopt any of the other Israeli feed parts besides the two left side mounted spacers.

where do we sign upthe reason i want to convert from 30-06 to .308, i have recently had a friend get set up as a dealer, to get current US ammo from the goverment contract factory. 250$ per case of 1000 rounds.

I've got both a 30-06 barrel and a few 308 barrels. I still have a case of 308 but the cost to replace it has kept me from pulling the trigger. If a deal comes a long like that I'd jump at the chance to buy it.
My kit was originally a 308 kit but I was shipped a 30-06 barrel in the kit by mistake. A few conversations with the supplier later they sold me the 308 barrel at a great price. So I just had to order the other parts needed. Darn. 30-06 front cartridge guide, flash hider, and an extra barrel extension later and down range she goes. It was well worth doing the conversion.
