Has anyone had any success in fireing 308 from a reciever in orginal 3006 configuration?? I have a very nice 3006 confirguation that I want to fire 308 from. I will change the barrell and booster and use the izy spacers but I do not want to make any perment changes to the reciever. It seem as tho someone on the board had posted that they had made this work. Or maybe I was dreaming?? thanks

I believe you are good to go! Izzy spacers, barrel, & booster. I have a .308 A4 and that is all I need to shoot 30.06....YOU WILL need to use the Izzy links if you want to shoot .308!

Yes, it will work. There is one challenge, and that is the length of the 30-06 right rear cartridge stop. I found I had to barely seat the 308 rounds in the links, to the point that they almost want to fall out. Otherwise, the links are too far back and don't want to eject. I have not tried cloth belts yet. That is another experiment I need to do sometime.

The important point is that the 30-06 belt holding pawl and belt feed pawl will work just fine with 308.
