If one of you guys with the newest edition of the Hornady Reloading Manual could look this up for me, I'd sure appreciate it. I've got an older edition, and they don't list this particular bullet. Here goes.... I'm reloading the Hornady 174 grain FMJ-BT in .303 British using IMR 4895. Need to know the min and max powder loads, and also the COL. Also, looking for the same data for the 7.7 Jap, also using the same bullet. Thanks in advance for the help.

I dont have the new one but be aware, the necks on the .303 are very thin and brass life is short. i get about 3 loadings max out of a bolt gun. i do not load max loads. maybe you will have better luck than me.i have not loaded for a bren so brass life is still in question.i will have to look to see what i was loading. i was using imr 3031 but dont remember what the poweder charge was. yea i know 3031 does not go thru a powder measure very well. but it worked well...

From the Hodgdon website (they also handle IMR powder):

http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

303 British

174 GR. SIE HPBT Hodgdon H4895 .311" 3.075" 34.0(start) 2262 38,800 CUP 38.0(max) 2446 43,600 CUP

That is for (H) Hodgdon 4895.

The only load that comes close with IMR 4895 is for the 180gr. spitzer at 41gr. max.

For 7.7 Jap, the only thing listed that comes close would be 180 GR. SIE SP Hodgdon H4895 .311" 3.150" 37.0 2060 40.0 2230
