Browning 1919a4 Rivets 1917a1 Rivets BMG Rivets M2 Rivets M3 Rivets FN30 Rivets
Browning Machine Gun Rivets: 1917a1, 1919a4, M2, M3, FN30, Colt Commercial (1928). Rivet tools, Countersinks and Drill bits For Sale:
New Site Under Construction: Your Source for Rivets and Tooling for Browning Machine Guns . I should have a clean Domain name soon.
I have 60 deg. rivets for the Browning 1917a1 & 1919a4: $25.00
These are the current rivets for the 1917a1 and 1919a4. In the latest production run I was able to incorporate an additional improvement. The large Trunnion rivet now has a small, 60 degree head modeled closely after those used during the original production of the weapons. The rivets of some "Mil-spec." sets often come up short due to de-mil damage, so additional length has been added to some of my rivets to compensate for this. I don't want you running out of rivet before you run out of hole.
Note: The round head, forward Top plate rivet is no longer included.
The Forward cartridge stop retains the 0.20" shank (rather than the 0.185" of the earlier version) adopted about two years ago.
1) Forward Top plate rivet, #7 (Flat head rivet only, the round head rivet is no longer included)
2) Rear Top plate rivet, #7 (3)
3) Forward Cartridge stop, now with 0.200 shank (1)
4) Rear Cartridge stop rivet, #7 (1)
5) Large Trunion rivets, 11/32" (2)
6) Bottom plate and Pintle pad rivets, 3/16" (22)
7) Long Pintle pad rivet, 3/16" (1)
I also now have Colt 1928 Rivets and Tooling (Photo not available). $25.00. Set includes:
1) Forward Top plate rivet, #7 (Flat head rivet only, the round head rivet is no longer included)
2) Rear Top plate rivets, #7 (3)
3) Forward Cartridge stop (1)
4) Rear Cartridge stop rivet, #7 (1)
5) Large Trunnion Rivets, 11/32" (2)
6) Pintle pad rivets, 3/16" (5)
7) Long Pintle pad rivet, 3/16" (1)
Bottom plate rivets, 1/8" (a bunch)
Most of these are the same as in the 1917a1/1919 rivet kits. Differences: The forward Top plate rivet has a round head so it can be made to match the original. For the Bottom plate I have 1/8" x 1/2" round head rivets. These have enough material to duplicate the heads of the original rivets. $25.00.
I also have rivet setting tools with a smaller concave to form a proper head on the 1/8" diameter rivets. Pricing is the same as the other setting tools: $12.00 for the 3-1/2" tool, and $13.00 for the 1-1/2" tool. The 1-1/2" tool is also available with the Hydraulic setting fixture.
Countersinks and bits:
3/16 Cobalt 135 deg split point bit used for the small rivet holes.
#7 Cobalt 135 deg split point bit for the Top Plate and rear cartridge stop rivet holes.
11/32 Cobalt 135 deg split point drill bit used for drilling the large, trunion rivet holes.
No. 5, Cobalt, 60 deg. and 90 deg. combined drill and countersink.
I have 9/16 and 5/8 HSS, 118 degree, 1/2 in shank, Silver and Deming drills. 4140 steel is tough on HSS, but if you're just enlarging a 9/16th hole, or the Cobalt 11/32 is used first to drill a pilot hole, this should get you done (with a little oil and patience). My current stock is U.S. made.
and rivet setting tools:
I have 3 1/2" and 1 1/8" straight .401 shank rivet setting tools. With between 1/8 and 5/32 of the rivet shank protruding, these will make a rivet head very similar to the factory rivets. Experiment first of course. These are high alloy, heat-treated steel. Though designed for rivet guns, a large hammer (BFH) works too. There is also a fixture (center) available for setting rivets with a hydraulic press. It requires an additional 1" sleeve that must be purchased separately (see burntcapital.sharepoint.com for more information).
