Also, the chinese maxim is basically the 1909 on the finnish mount. So look for that gun and you can see how its done. Do you have the Devil's Paintbrush by Goldsmith? If so there is tons of info in there. Its a must have for anyone looking into maxims.
I think I would be looking at a Vickers mount. To start it would be a drop in fit! Rather then screwing around with trying to get this ring thing to fit and the other possible problem. Plus the ring will screw up the paint on your waterjacket.
