It's hard to say. Last creek there was virtually no 8mm to be had. Didn't see much 54R either. I would call some of the larger vendors that set up there like Keystone Arms, Cole Dist, Century, Pat's reloading. Ammunition Store was there last time. He said he is coming back, although his online stuff isn't up as of now. Ask them what they'll be bringing with them.

The surplus ammo supply fluctuates on a daily/weekly basis. From what I've heard there is supposed to be a quantity of Polish 54R on the docks, but that was awhile ago and I haven't seen any surface. I scored some 7.62x39 at a decent price last 'creek. Who's to say at this one. For 303 Brit try Century and Zanders.

Last april there was no fifty to be had at any price. Last october, there was more fifty than at lake city ammo plant. My point is, there is not much coming in from overseas, so it depends if prices have gotten high enough for shooters and dealers to open up their private coffers. I took 2600 rounds of fifty to sell last october, and brought it all back. A lot of others did the same. I can promise you I will never take another round of ammo to try and sell. It is a royal pita. Plus it doesnt matter what it is selling for, how are you gonna replace it.
There was a lot of 303 there last time. Century has 54r, although it is bulgarian and I have heard of concerns about this ammo. If you are going to buy from century I much prefer having it delivered to my house for free as to toteing it home from the creek. I always take ammo to shoot and on the good years, bring home more than I took. The last year wasnt so good in that regard though.
I need 8mm, but I dont think there is going to be any there. The last I saw was outrageous. I dont own a gun that cant be converted to something else before I pay .60 a round for 8mm. If I am shooting .60 a round ammo it is going to be some of the 308 lc I have.
Good Luck

The only 8mm I saw at KCR was ammo I took there to sell. I had it sold before I even got there.

The general trend for ammo prices is UP, UP, UP. At a guess, I would have to say it will be more expensive by then.
That's why I got out of it...the belt feds that is. I saw what was/is coming. Decided to stick to stuff I can easily reload (.223, 9mm, .45) or commercially available (7.62x39 and 5.45x39).

Damn D8 put the tactical bug in me. Got an FN SPR A4 and getting some work done on it....poor Tannerite at the June OFAST shoot won't have a prayer.:D

My MGI modular AR lower with DIAS is coming along nicely. Almost have everything to start putting it together. Engraving is finishing up and then off to Duracoating. Although it 's not belt fed (at least not yet) it DOES have a nice assortment of drums in .223 and 7.62x39! I'll post pics when it's done.

As of now I'm stocking up on components....they're not getting cheaper either. Also toying with the idea of MAYBE doing another single shot .50....of course AFTER I sold off my components for that too:(

October I got some Greek '06 in Garand clips - don't recall the price, but could have easily done better scoring from CMP. I didn't want that much and bought it because it was the creek. I saw nothing even remotely resembling a bargain on .303. Last April, got a few boxes of Wolf Gold .303 @ 12.50 ea. and what little I saw in October was higher than that.

Good old hindsight...what we could have landed 3 yrs ago...

You must not have shopped hard for '06 as I got it in enbloc clips for the same price as CMP but saved on shipping.

well really the prices that you see everywhere else is the price that you will see at the show. the only difference i see is that most people will not haul all of the ammo down to sell. i heard a myriad of vendors complaining about the poor sales that they had going on. once the prices jump that high, what did they expect? sell out of berdan primed surplus 308 at 50 cents a round... no thanks. last april at least pats reloading still had 50 cal at around 2$ a round. in october i did not see any for less than $3 a round. the wooden crates of the ap stuff form 44 that a bunch of us got on that group buy was tagged at $1000 per crate of 240 rounds. for that price you can have both my crates no question... and i'll pay shipping to you.

there will be no great ammo buys. if there are any volume sales they will happen on friday when all the real people show up. by the time us regular folk show up on saturday or sunday what you see is what you get.

i am guessing that sunday evening woudl have been a good time to haggle so they didn't have to load it all back up and take it back to wherever home is. but really if they just hold on to it it will sell eventually to someone else.

your getting it now. We send the women over to do the deals. The vendors follow them back to the line with their handtrucks loaded so full the tires are flat.:)

how much ammo did you burn though in october jmann?

it just seemed as though most of the folks on the line were just not dumping as much lead as they had in the past. the economics behind this is going to slow down the whole event, i fear. when the expenditure just for ammo goes up 3 fold, if not more, even the "haves" must start to notice.

It was slower than the past. I went through 6000 rounds of 8mm in my two watercooleds, about a case of 5.56 in various stuff, 500 rounds of 7.62 in a bm59 and about 1000 rounds of 303 through a bren gun. Oh almost forgot 60 rounds of 8mm kurz. It was definitely slower than years past. I didnt buy any ammo there this time and probably wont buy any in april. I might have to convert one of my brownings to 308 though as I have a pretty good stash of it and its got tracers. That will save my romanian for my maxim and i will burn up the semi load of yugo crap I bought in a panic in the post sample.
