so my ffl works with me.
his ffl is addressed at a house that he no longer really lives in. he moved in to another house a month or so ago and only spends one day a week or so at the old house and has yet to change the address. can items be delivered to the alternate address (work address?)

the question also works for a different scenario. i was discussing buying a crate of nagants a few weeks ago. freight would be a lot cheaper if it could send it to work instead because of the dock and all that.

what are the rules in alternate shipping?

Rory,

IIRC, Lone Ranger already covered this awhile back.

I can't remember if it's acceptable to ship to alternate addy, what's "reasonable" to us is NOT always the case. Stands to reason if YOU are there to sign for the package and secure them, then take firearms to shop and log into book ASAP, I don't see a problem, but some Feds generally are not known for common sense.

BTW, is it legal to have firearms on your corp's property? Check into that, it is automatic termination where I work.

L.T.,

The statutes and regulations require the recipient be a licensee (or fall into an exemption) to acquire firearms interstate, but strangely(?) enough, don't specify the firearms need to be shipped to the licensed premises.

Check out this edition of the newsletter - lots of good info for people who own firearms before beginning operations as a licensee.

As for getting them shipped elsewhere, that is between you and the shipper.

haha guns are ok at my work place. the database guy is a class 3 dealer and there are a couple other enthusiasts. hell they told me to run up to the cmp in the next morning after i won the m1 carbine so they could see it that day. they are WAY ok with me bringing in shipping out or damn near anything but firing stuff at the work place :)

and i would not touch the package until the dealer logs everything. he works there too but does not know little rules like this one.

shipping to alternate address.

It use to be that ATF required firearms to be shipped to the address on the ffl but this was pushed and they conceded that there is nothing in the statute that says this. You can ship to an alternate address.

Rory,
Beltfed is right, there isn't anything in the statute that specifically prohibits an FFL to ship to an address that is not listed for the receiving FFL. However, ATF DOES have some rather quirky rules about conducting business only at the licensed premesis (or gunshows). You might want to visit the ATF's website, the FAQ page along with the regulations page will be informative.
