I have had some request lately to do another build party, if there is interest I guess I am game for it again:eek:. I was thinking along the lines of mid October(just after knob creek) or the first week of November right after the elections so there is plenty to talk about.

Please post some preferences or ideas and I'll make a final decision based on the replies.

Brian, This sounds like a great idea. Would it be strictly for 1919's or could we bring along other kits to build as well? Mid October sounds like a great time to travel.

Brian,
Are you sure you want to do this right after The Creek? The 1500 is scheduled for 2 weeks after The Creek weekend, sound like you might be setting yourself up for more than you want the month of October???

...right in the middle...

Any time would be right in the middle of the gun show season Oct-Nov. I'd be more interested in Brian's original date ...about a week or two after KC. The later it gets...the COLDER it becomes,so earlier would be better than later.....

Depending on the weekend it woudl be something I am interested in, and I *might* be able to make it. The weekend of Sept 12/13 is definiltey out.

I think I can handle a good portion of the work, but the parkerizing is beyond my abilities ina small apartment. ;)

count me in

I don't have a date preference, but I would like to come out and see what a build party is all about. I really don't have anything to build, but I would just like to hang out and absorb all I can from the experts and lend a hand when needed.:D

Thanks,

Mike

I am hoping to have a heat pump installed in dad's barn in a week or so in at least the 2 shop area's. Although all the in and out it will run non-stop.

....dates...?

Seems there is another Indy 1500 gun show on 24-26 Oct...right in Brian's back yard. And KC is 11-13 Oct...two weeks before. Does the 18-19 Oct date seem OK for this build party...? Its right in the middle and one (1) week after KC. Any of the above dates are fine....and usually not too cold during the day in IN before Nov. I propose the 18-19 Oct date....if OK with Brian,as he has the final say so. What say YE....?

L999here,not wanting to stir trouble with you or any one but on the 18 and the 19th I work and I really would like to make it this time. I have every other weekend off and it would be great to get out to this party and build one. I could also bring out my cetme/hk flat bending jig if anyone wants to bend one up. I am no expert but can help out with a cetme/hk build. Ones that I have built work very well. 7 or 8 as of now. It really is up to you Brian, after all it is your party.

HK/CETME jig

Speaking of HK/CETME builds. Not trying to hijack the thread, but where could I get all of the parts (blank to) build a HK-91? I have a soft spot for those rifles. Had a real H&K years ago, should have never sold it:(. Bought a junky century CETME a few years back and luckily got rid of it shortly there after.

Would the ATF (registration?) process for building a HK be about the same as for building a 1919?

Thanks,

.....we don't !!!

Contrary to what is generally believed....WE DO NOT REGISTER GUNS in IN !!! There is only a federal registration for FA weapons...actually a $200 one-time tax stamp fee. You may have the process confused with making a firearm for the express purpose of SELLING IT. You may make a firearm for personel use and later if wish to sell, put your pertinent info on the gun. There are,of course, variations on different specifics...but this is the general rule.

Thanks for the clarification L999

That's what I was thinking, just the markings for re-selling, serial number, etc.

As for the HK/G3 build I was looking around the net today and it looks like the boat has sailed on those kits. I couldn't find but a few kits out there and they were the bottom of the barrel from what I could see. Missed that boat again.:(

Back to the original thread now. Has anyone officially picked a firm date for the build party? I'm bringing venison burgers in case anyone gets hungry.:D Just let me know how many to put in the cooler.

....food...?

Food....? Who has the time to eat....LOL...!!! Believe we had about 35-40 souls at the last build party. Seriously, Brian and Dianne put on a good spread and several people bring food and drinks. Its a GROUP build party that has yet to be equaled anywhere in the US. Been to every one of 'em....they just keep getting better. Last build there were....1919's,1917's,AK's,FN/FAL's at least (3) .50 BMG M2HB's,a couple of belt loaders, parts galore, belts everywhere and people grinning from ear-to-ear....!!! And if the hammering and riveting let up just a little, you could hear the rat-a-tat-tat on Brian's range where testing was being done after the arms were built.
