I just got my kit back from Pirate yetserday. Man can that guy weld, and he did my 16" bbl shroud extension with no problem. Ive looked at everything so far but Id like to see if someone has a completed build that I can reverse engineer. Things like:

Where the button head hex and flat head hex screws go?

What are those dinky little tension pins for?

What holds the rear cap in place?

I think that a few pics will really clear up dozens of posts.....

Thanks-Scott

I am working on the tutorials, I need to redo some of the photos but promise to have it done by sunday. I have been busy geting peoples stuff done and out the door.

the little pins hold the receiver to the lower. as far as the welding goes if you have been doing it as long as I have you should be able to do a decent job!:D

dude you just need to look around a little ......

ive got a quick build on it & we started another thread on it for Lobo and his build. pictures from every angle are there, along with any description you could ever need. ive also got about 40 more pix of it, but you need to say what you wan to see then i'll post the pic of it if its not already here.

with all that said: Pirate does a super tutorial!! when he gets that one finished again it will be very nice.

Pirate, I meant the itty bitty roll pins.

SDK1986..please post a link or something. Ive been having trouble navigating the site lately. I know Pirate is great for explaining things, but I hate to bother the man when there are tons of other guys who can answer for me.

As far as posting a pic of the shroud....Ill try and get to it.

Scott,
the itty bitty roll pins retain the firing pin
the button head screws are for the rear sight
the flat heads are for the shroud., or you can weld it on
one of the sholder bolts is for the rear cap, the other is the cocking handle.
there are extras of all the small screws & pins.

I had a stock I adapted, if I can find it I will post pix for you also.

SDK, those are all the same picture Ive been lookin at, excepet the 'shoot1919' site, Im not registered there.

Ok, Ill have at it with my specific questions...

The rear cap is held on how? Pirate says use one of the shoulder bolts...I assume I have to drill thru the little block on the bottom and the cap and the sight base? Maybe a picture of this would help.

I guess the rest of it will just come together as I see it. Heck, I retro engineered my MG42, this should be no problem.

Scott D:

if you did a 42 and its running then your just worrying over nothing bub!! this is a fun easy build..

now to your question: yes and we actually did answer that same one in Lobo's thread and you can see the shoulder bolt. Pirate even gave you the drill sizes to use in his post.

you drill thru the little plate and the plug and thru the other plate with the small bit, then go back and drill the shoulder size thru all but the part your gonna thread. then go back again and use the larger bit and drill just a litte so you can countersink the head of the shoulder bolt.

lemme go see if i got a lighter picture that shows this better for you.

ok if you zoom in on the rear you can see how i countersunk mine up in there and maybe that wil give you what you need.

OK, its starting to come together. Thanks guys. Two more questions....little stuff really......

1) The template that pirate sent me....the mag well opening...I had to open it up substantially more than the paper print to get the lower to sit level...Chalk it up to the minor stuff?

2) Thanks to NY, I gotta make mine a 16" carbine. Anybody got any suggestions as to what I should use for a bbl extention?
