Bought ammo from a board member here (1,000 rounds of 308 and blanks) ~6 months ago. He has been "Too busy" to send it.

If anyone is nearby I would pay you to pick it up and drop off at a UPS store (where I would also pay to ship).

Thanks guys

If he is too busy to send it since 11/02 - I suspect getting him to meet for a hand off of the ammo might be iffy at best. I'm also within driving distance, but I don't want to waste my time without some confirmation from the seller.....maybe meet halfway???

this may seem too simple, but have been in contact with the seller these past 6 months and demanded that he either send you the ammo or your money? or tried other avenues, contact the moderator of the forum, file a police complaint? rather then trying to get a third party involved

honestly, nvolving a private third party that has "no dog in the fight" may not fair well for that third party. as he,
like you, has no clue what this guy will do or is capable of doing when he is "cornered" so to speak.

even if I lived in the same neighborhood as this seller, I certainly wouldn't put on shinny armor for someone I don't know personally and gallop off to the rescue. things usually go south for the person being a knight in shinny armor

Good question, and yes, several times. He always promises and never delivers.

I have no reason to believe that this guy is doing anything nefarious or has ill intent, these 1000 rounds are the remainder of a larger transaction (he previously sent a 1919, tripod, and half the ammo). The transaction originated here on the boards and the post is still un-edited and up.

That's a fair point, and I don't intend to hide anything from anyone and will be upfront. Some people are comfortable with these situations, some aren't.

Good point though, I'll reach out to Rory.

In the past, I have seen transactions go south on other boards (never here) and involving local LEOs never really works well unless it amounts to felony dollars....and even then they don't really lift a finger.

It's just barely above the amount I would consider filing small claims over, but I wanted to see if this was an option first. I would prefer to pay a person than court and serving fees.

Anyways, thanks for reading guys.

Why don't you contact him one more time and tell him politely he "X" number of days to get the stuff in the mail and send you a tracking number or you will be contacting the local PD and making a theft complaint? If you paid via the mail you can also get the USPS "postal police" involved, although they take forever.

I had a similar issue a little bit ago with a fellow and ended up calling the local Sheriff's Dept. (he was rural); they sent a deputy out and he called me from the guys front porch, with the guy right there, and got it handled right then and there. The deputy told him to have it in the mail in 48 hours and a tracking number emailed to me, and he told me if I did not get said tracking number in 48 hours I was to call the deputy back and he would make an arrest for grand theft. I had the tracking number in two hours and the stuff in 4 days, after months of calls and emails which towards the end were never responded to.

Absolutely the best way...!!

Excellent rendition,Bob..!! This works every time...I've had to do it twice. Once in Indiana and once in IL. Getting the local Sheriff involved is the key here. As pointed out,the US Postal Service is usually slow...but they are like a junk yard dog...and get results with neferrious folks who scam others thru the mail. I'd be wary of getting someone else involved for the reasons mentioned. Do it right...!!

These are all good ideas. I will pursue the local sheriff / small claims option after the holidays.

Thanks gentlemen.

Given that you have gotten no replies and it looks like the last forum activity was in May........

I'd say it's definitely time to move forward with a collection strategy. Best of luck with your attempt(s).
