I'd like to refinish my AR-15. There is currently a KG coating finish (similar to duracoat) on it. What is the best way to remove the old finish? Light bead blasting?

Bead Blasting

You are correct on bead blasting as an easy way to remove the finish. Dura-coat actually works best on a porous surface like those that have been parked. If you have questions call LCW and ask for Greg, if he cannot tell you he will transfer you to someone that can.
Why don't you like the GK finish?

Its been scratched up quite a bit and the coating on the barrel is all discolored from heat. I've got a new lower to attach it to and want to make everything uniform.
