That sounds like a lot of Gun & Kit manufacturing Company's out there right now ,everything is always out of stock and waiting on something.
I wonder if some of them are hopeing for a ban of some sort so they do not have to honor their pre commitments.
But they still have their web sites up accepting sales and very few tell you an item is out of stock.
Some of them do though , and that is just polite ,that way if a buyer wants something it is up to them if they want to wait.

A myth??
If it's a myth then what did I shoot on my M-16 lower? It's not a myth it exists in very small numbers and there in lies the problem.
Geoff isn't delivering the product in a timely manner.
If your friends want their money back tell them to send a letter to Geoff @ Ares with a copy of their contract and he should send them a check in a week or two. I hope lots of guys ask for the money back, moves me farther up the list.

Mouse,

I certainly hope you get yours, this is starting to look like a con game, one that rarely works out when "seed money" is used. :(

I would think if Geoff was a good guy, he would've taken in assembly help from those RKIs that kindly offered, instead he crawfished on that and offers NO communication for at least a year, THAT does not look good!

They do exsist but not many and it looks like they bit off more than they can chew. theres no way it takes 6 years to make these they could have made 100s in that time i think they blew the money on R&D and are prob. looking for investers or making excuses to hold off the lawsuits. Boy i'm glad i never sent that money in. Just think if you bought 308 back then with that money what kind of a profit you could make today on that ammo. My problem is i shot it all:)

you missed the meaning of myth....while only a select few got theirs, its still a myth weather the regular guys who are not the large nuts c3 dealers will ever see it, and black rifles is right, at the very least all those who paid should get a letter or a phone call on the status of the product. and a close guess on time. yes guess, i wouldnt even think about asking for a accurate time...

So...how many board members here are living in FL, AND unemployed? ;) Maybe get someone on the inside and get some answers. :D
Well, I AM unemployed, but I don't live in Florida. But it does sound like they could use someone there as a point man to deal with their customers and to get an overview of just where the product- and their order- is.

Another possibility is it may be a stall for time. It sounds a bit strange to me an established company would drop everything and move across country with no pre-planning. Maybe they were kicked out of where they have been working.

I remember "almost" reserving one a few years back, I also started looking for a lightning link (2k at the time for a link seemed too high:eek:, yep I'm dumb:p).

It was/is a very impressive product. Didnt they get some gov't contracts? The Afghan & Iraq wars lead to a virtual orgy of gov't weapons spending, I thought they got on board with that. (H. Hughes and the Spruce-Goose come to mind:D)

Are they back-logged due to gov't contracts maybe?

When Obamama Backalakadaka becomes our next dictator I smell a sharp decline in military spending in favor of funding illegal immigrants education and health-care. They need to re-tool for civilian sales since most of us will be stocking up for the Revolution;)

I think I'll stay with my last guess. I don't think it matters whether they are building weapons for the military or a commercial market. Moving across the country with apparently no fore thought for production in new location doesn't sound very smart to me. If it was done by there choice.

$2K for a LL? That had to be around 2001 or so, when I turned down 2 LLs for $4K and first transfer paid, THAT was one of my regrets.

To my knowledge there are NO govts looking at the Shrike, and I don't buy the SF "black fund" BS either, this company is just stalling, the end result doesn't look good.

Hey Mouse, did you get your Shirke yet?

Any word on Shrikes in General? Look like they are starting to show up in limited numbers. I saw the non-belt fed upper for sale about a year ago. I have seen a few at gun shows for $7kish. Any word on current status?

It really is a shame as it looks like one of those products that would become almost standard for M16 owners... Someone needs to copy the idea and come up with their own version.

You do know that their phone number appears to be a home phone. I found them on switchboard.com reverse lookup. I work up the road from there in Titusville. The address associated with the number looks like a residential one.

Just to kick another sleeping dog whatever become of Robinson Armament's belt fed ? Looking at the Shrike reminded me of it . All I have heard of is the rifle, carbine and pistol in various calibers with interchangeable barrels but all magazine fed .

Ares did a nice job but I think the wait would not be worth it, at least to me .

They didn't pursue it. They had all sorts of guys sayin", "Hell yeah, I'll buy one or a dozen"...

But when push came to shove and someone had to commit, there were very few people with money in hand. Probably more due to a sour taste in everyones' mouth after the Shrike debacle.

Understand they didn't have it all ironed out yet when they pulled the plug. Shame, too... all they had to do was reverse engineer the Stoner top cover. They already did the gun, what was one more part?
