Hello all. I need options in fixing my Uzi 22LR barrel. Let's start with the problem. There is a section in the barrel with a slimmer diameter than .22 of an inch. This section is probably only 1/4 of an inch in length.

The out of spec portion causes a lot of gunk build up. After shooting 20 rounds, the bullets start to go sideways. You cannot even get a brush to clean it up.

Barrel no rifling also.

I bought this "new" and since Vector is not going to make any more 22LR conversion kits, I would like to get this up and running.

What are my options? Thanks in advance.

I've heard of 22 barrels being bored out and a liner sleeve installed. Don't know who would do that or what it would cost. Just something to look into. KevinT

You need to find a gunsmith who drills out your old barrel, then installs the rifled barrel liners, and when you shoot that one smooth, it can be overhauled practically forever.

Check the ads in Shotgun News, several guys doing this.

That's what I needed to hear - barrels can be drilled then sleeved. I do not want to do something new that I will regret. Specially that it might take time to get Uzi barrels in 22LR.

Much appreciated.

Uzi barrel repair

Just a suggestion to go with the good ideas that others have provided on having the barrel lined. You might also take a standard surplus barrel and have it re-lined to .22 caliber. My understanding of barrel re-lining is that the bore is drilled to the outside diameter of the sleeve being installed. Next this sleeve is glued in place and the chamber is cut. Can anybody add to or correct this information?

A barrel liner might be the way to go. The old barrel would have to be drilled (8mm for a .22 liner) then the liner inserted and either silver soldered or brazed into position. You'll also have to deal with chambering and crowning. Brownell's sells barrel liners (look under barrel liners, not barrel sleeves) as well as the liner drills.

Barrel sleeves are a slightly different animal - they go on the outside of a barrel and serve a different purpose.

Why not just buy a new Uzi .22 barrel? They're only like $34...

Hey Shattered, can you please give a little more information on where to get the barrel?

A spare would certainly help. Not to mention the amount of time saved if $50+/- can solve this issue.
Soitenly... Call up Gun Parts (Numrich)... supposed to be in stock.
