I apologize in advance for the dumb question. I have a SA 1919A4 with in .308, I have only had it out twice. The most recent time I had it out, I had a a starter link on a belt, and when I fed the belt in that direction, it would only fire two shots before you had to manually pull the belt. When I ran the belt (with metal links) the other direction, it cycled like a champ. New links, new brass, is there a feed direction on a linked belt?

One of my 1919s won't feed links the correct direction. It only runs if the links are fed backwards. I've replaced feed pawls, feed pawl slides, belt holding pawls, cut the BHP spring to lighten the tension, tried multiple topcovers... all the same. I think there is too much friction with the trunion protector on the bottom of the links, perhaps it is dragging too much which causes stoppages.

I just run 'em backwards in that gun.
