Has anyone ever tried to convert the .30-06 belt filling machine to use .303 or 54R with the correct pitch on the wheels for the Vickers belt? Anyone know where one would find the wheels or have them made?
Looked at it and decided it would be to much work. It is not just the wheels, the belt feed, cartridge feed, wheels and base would all need to be modified. Cheaper and easier to just buy a plate loader from Guiette. I am looking at the Swiss MG11 converted loaders for use in loading 54R into cloth belts. Just not real hard.
I read the question to be using a USGI belt loader to load 54R into vickers belts. Loading 54R into US Browning belts would be much simpler, and probably only require refitting the feed device, and opening up the loader and pusher to fit 54R. Making Vickers or maxim belts fit the loader is more probelematic.
