I have a friend who is getting a 1919A4, and she has asked me to pick up a tripod for it, for her. I'm wondering what you guys think the best value in tripods is. I would like to avoid going above $300 (including an adapter, if needed), though I realize that doesn't leave many options.

I was thinking of an MG42 AA tripod with an adapter, but I haven't ever used one myself and don't know how practical they are. A T&E would be nice, but I am thinking that a flexible AA type mounting would be more fun at the range, for shooting reactive and moving targets.

Thoughts or suggestions?

the AA pod is the cheapest option at $99+ but you run the chance of needing some sort of stability option as well, the legs on mine come unlocked while shooting and go true anti aircraft  however, when you get it stable it makes a nice platform with adjustable height.

AW-SIM and badger bob make m2 "style" tripods for a good price - somewhere around 150 bucks IIRC i dont have either so i cant comment on them.

Ironcreations makes a nice m2 style repro, it costs a bit more but well worth the price in my opinion - i have one and its great quality stuff for being a repro, it should be under 300 as well.

Depending which pod you go after will determine the adapter to get, for those get in contact with 1919_4_ME or look at http://www.beltfedshooters.com/store/store.htm he also makes stabilizers, T/E's etc etc.
