would have been a lot easier had you just tried to sell it off here.

no fees and save for a few people no deadbeats.

but as for your experience with blackthorn:

i had an armalite ar15 that i bought NIB that i could not ever get to reliably hit paper. not at all. it was a miserable 2-3 years. i gave it to others to try to play with... a smith to see if he could figure out what was wrong. nothing... nada. armalite didn't care. worst part was that no one could find anything wrong with it. but no one could get it to reliably hit paper either. freaking frustrating.

The word going around at AR15.com, Blackthorne is just a new name for Hesse Arms.

Hesse had (has) such a terrible reputation they changed the company name to Vulcan. After people found Vulcan was the same as Hesse, there was another name change to....yep thats right...Blackthorne.

Save yourself a lot of haasle and money and avoid Blackthorne.

Rory,

If I was seriously trying to sell an AR-15 bolt and carrier I would sell good stuff for real money. The Gunbroker route allows me 7 days of retaliation for shabby treatment that doesn't constantly keep having to get bumped to stay fresh.

I guess I should have posted the complete Maxim 1910 LSP I have for sale on GB here first...

i just finished a m4 a3 build with a dpms lower and a blackthorne kit for a friend 3 days ago, yesterday he called to tell me the gun shoots great.i thought i would just chime in, cause i too have not heard a good word for the company but my friend wanted a (dare i say- cheap) ar, but the quality seemed to be ok, i wouldnt try to make a nail driver out of one, but for his first gun, i think its a winner!, if anyone cares i can try to post some pics of the build for an idea of what you may get from them...

you would think that the headspace was cked before letting it out the door. all guns are cked for headspace before they leave my shop, even if it did not have a headspace issue. just good smith biz to do it that way and to protect yourself. now that blackthorne is known to be a messy hesse, i would not buy a washer from that bozo. i had 1 customer that came close to sueing his ass bigtime over a cetme, and this guy was a high profile criminal lawyer here in dallas. he finally convinced them to see the light. dont know what he got out of them but he still smiles to this day.....:)

Just an FYI: The lugs lock up with the barrel and will not go into battery! Tell me whether they checked the headspace! HaHa!

BTW Dan: You can back out on your bid if you want to.

Gentlemen,

This is an AD board. If you'd like to have a conversation, or berate someone, take it to open talk!

Dave
I apologize for my ignorance of site protocol in this case. It probably would've better suited my purposes to post it under Open Talk. Feel free to move the thread as Rory suggested, or let me know what to do.
Thanks!
