Blanks are they harmful to barrels? A bit late now to ask, shooting lots of blanks on Sunday, what do the experts here have to say? I plan to use my worst barrel for them, but does the repeated heat & pressure from blanks do any more harm than standard rounds? If it makes any difference these are old USGI 30-06 corrosive rounds.
Thanks!

Blanks

Shooting corrosivly primed ammo can damage any weapon, IF it isn't properly cleaned after firing. The fact that they are blanks is immaterial.

My VFW post had 10 M1917's (Enfields) that had been fired extensivly (from 1948 to 2003) with Army supplied corrosive blank ammo. Several of them look like they had just left the arsenal after rebuilding, complete with JA (Johonson Automatics barrels), however, the bores were badly damaged from the lack of proper cleaning.
