Can it be done ?
Have any of you guys ever had one Blued ,and did it come out OK ?
If you could drop a name i would appreciate it .
I have the Chance to trade for a Stoeger Luger with a 6in. barrel.
It is a real nice gun ,but a Luger is supposed to be Blue.

Nope, not gonna happen.

I had one of the best in the industry try... Stan Andrewski up in New Hampshire try it on one of my Macs. Makes it a bit darker, but still very bright silver on a freshly matt blued Mac.

well not actually bluing but a dark finish can be done, just look at the slides on the Sigs, there stainless. Check with Brownell's, it' Oxynate No 84, it's a hot chemical blueing compound for stainless and cast iron. It's item # 082-084-140 and is $70.87 plus haz mat for a 40# can.

By the way, what MAC is stainless, I've seen blued and parkerized but a stainless one would be one for the record books.

Not the whole Mac... I bought a registered lower that wasn't finish welded and had a true Tig Master finish it up for me as I watched. When it was done, he looked at it and said "Uhh Ohh". I said don't gimme no %[email protected]& Uhh Ohhs... what?

He used stainless rod by misteak.:D Every fracking weld joint on the Mac has bright welds. When I brought it to Stan, he said, no way. Screw it, I needed it blued so in it went. Still came out bright, he hit the stainless with a torch and blackened it a bit and reblued one more time. Not as noticeable but to me it glares...ah well.

However... you may see a unique Mac in the near future. Going to plan up a brass upper on an M11/9 mm. And while I'm at it, it'll be a southpaw model. Just for the hellovit... a tribute to WLB.

I bought the brass stock and started hawging on it, but then got sidetracked by the Browning 22 kit, the 9mm Thompson conversion, the Hello Kitty gun, the 5mm practice ammo barrel for the S&W 76, etc. Now I'm knee deep in tiling floors, painting walls, installing crown moulding, 4 or 5 wood working projects and Tivo.

I'll get back on it someday.

While we are on it I have had very good luck with bluing stainless using oxynate 84. It also does an exceptional job on cast parts. (ever wonder why everyone elses bmg's that are blued have red bottom plates;)) I have blued stainless bull barrels on rem 700 rifles and you cannot tell the barrels are stainless when done. Regular dulite or oxynate 7 wont touch stainless though, and they will also turn cast steels red or purple.
