I found reasonably priced basic reloading equipment sometime ago, and in preparation for this new venture I went through some of my spent brass. I noticed that the bolt of my 1919 is scratching the brass pretty badly. I recall someone mentioning (a long, long time ago) that some bolts may have a rough edge or section that you could file a little, but I do not remember where it was. Anyone remember which part of the bolt should be filed?

On the 54r you file off the front top left corner and it helps feed. Maybe it's possible this mod can help your situation. It has no negative affect on the strength or function of the firearm.

It is the bolt face that is marring the head of the cartridge. I recall someone posting a pic of a bolt face with an arrow pointing to the section that need to be rounded or smoothed...but just cannot remember which section it was.
