A good analogy might be to get a USGI M14 kit, everything but the receiver, from the recent destruction of government inventory, via the CMP. It's over 50 years old, for the sake of this discussion, and an original M14 from that time could qualify as C&R, by the book. So you buy an LRB, JRA or Bula receiver, and build yourself a nice, "M1A" type rifle. It's a new gun, no matter the age of the parts kit. On the Browning 1919, once that right side plate is de milled, the C&R gun no longer exists. The rest of the receiver is just parts now, and your semi side plate is a brand new gun of current manufacture.

What's strange is on gb you will see barreled receivers listed as c&r or sometimes there will be sportized guns also listed as c&r.

You see a lot of "incorrect" info on the auction listings. Even a rewelded original receiver, once cut up is NOT C&R . BATF is pretty clear on what the criteria is for C&R - once it is no longer in original configuration, it is NOT a C&R gun anymore. So, technically if you restock your WWII M1 in a Boyd's laminated stock, it is no longer a C&R rifle.

NO it can not be a C&R

For several reasons and I will miss more than a few of them the other fellas can add to-
Basically a semi is a parts built gun so its never gonna be an original C&R gun, even if an 07 made it into a post sample full auto. There are other ins and out and 50 years old sorta stuff but no forget the C&R business end of it. Its a new made semi auto rifle.
