Just some teaser photos as the project nears completion. There are lots of little details to address but nothing major. I need to bolt in all of the interior items such as the seats, storage boxes, tin work, etc. At least they are all restored and ready. Exterior wise I need to finish some wiring, installing the straps on the stowage bins, and install the CES kit. Currently the next item is to spray the camouflage so I can finish the exterior. There are lots of hours that go into a project like this and sometimes you see very little worth taking a photo. It has been a learning experience for sure and has taught me to look at problem solving in a different perspective from how I would normally. I believe this to be due to it being British military armour. Yes that is how the British spell armor too. :) I’ve also learned to speak the “Queens English” as my British mates have taught me!

Say, how resistant is the armour? Assuming Soviet weapons, will it resist the 12.7x108 AP rounds from weapons like the DShK? How about the 23mm rounds from weapons mounted in MIGs like the NPV or GSH-23? Or at the other end, will point blank 7.62x54 rounds fired from above penetrate the glass after several rounds?

We just want you to be safe

Well Capt. Max, I HATE to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems you've WASTED both your time AND money! Apparently there is a "spot on" replica of a "real WWII" Ferret on Ebay you could have simply purchased!

you really need to post that "replica" pics here. I really like the snazzy spoke wheels and cool tactical tires. Reminds me of some of the "replica " weapons I see for sale....

After reading the description "all are sophisticated high quality productions" I was truly amazed by the build quality and accuracy vs the origional. Look at the attention to detail in the wiring behind the dash... The robust drive-line parts indicate this is a machine made for serious off roading. Note the gauge goes to 70... Certainly not MPH (given it's British), is that the number of minutes before this deathtrap catches fire? The number of times your wife tells you "I can't believe you bought this" before she files for divorce? Or the number of people per minute that pointed to it and said "what is that contraption" during the 5 parades?

Glad to see you in the final stretch CaptMax, I can't imagine the number of hours you have put into your restoration. I have done a few cars and they were pale in comparison.

Brought it home to finish in a heated garage for when it gets cold here. Saw temperatures in the low teens yesterday. Lots of details and little things to do to it. Hopefully come spring it will be completed. At least it’s starting to look like a Ferret again!

CaptMax, I hope you softened the blow by pointing out to her that, although you have a ton of money and time into the vehicle itself, you got the Falkland Islands badge for free. That should make all the difference. :)

And toolman is being a trouble maker, as usual. He already did a weasel transaction, now he wants to ferret out another vehicle buyer... :D
