alright so which cartridge do you consider junk?

here are a few of mine
.270 because you gain nothing by using a handicapped .30-06

.25 acp too weak for any real purpose why not just get a 22lr or a 22 mag if you are going that low

the ruger .480 with the .500s&w, .460s&w, 454 casull, 500 linbaugh, 45-70. is there room for another "ultimate hand gun cartridge" ruger seems to think so.

Anything smaller than .223 - WHY BOTHER?

.40 - Why not just be a man and use a .45 ACP?

.45 GAP - (see above)

.308 - What? Can't you handle the kick of .30-06?

:D

the 500 I shot out of your pistol when you visited. Way to much gun for a guy like me. That thing was a mother and a half. I will never forget that.
Next is the 3030 out of a Thompson Center. Thought Id lose my elbow on thatone.
Not sure which was worse.
Not nuts about 44 mag either. We have a Super Redhawk and that thing just plain bites the web of the hand.
Love the 45 in all forms.

I have to laugh that you mentioned "The Thompson Contender Pistol in 30-30!
In my early Twenties (1972-3) I used to reload all my 44 Mag ammo to Elmer Keith's full house loads. 240grn Keith Lead sitting on 24grns of 2400. I shot so much of it I was callus to the recoil and destroyed my hearing. Then in about 1978-80 I bought a Contender with a .223 barrel and absolutly loved it. I then saw a 30-30 barrel sitting on a gun show table for $60 bucks and "thought" hey that sounds cool. The first time I shot it with factory rifle loads I gained a whole new respect for "recoil" and "Pain". I could usually download 3-4 rounds and I'd be shaking so bad I hated pulling trigger one more time. I'd hand it to someone else and chide them a bit....tellin' em' go ahead finish the box while I
(insert here something made up). I'd watch them out of the cornor of my eye fire off a round and then they'd roll it sideways and comeup with an excuse for something else to do...or claim...hell man...I don't want to shoot up all your expensive ammo...ha. I'd put it away till the next Mouthy MOFO would start blabbin' that this or that was a nothin' as far as recoil...hell I can shoot anything. This old Contender still had the walnut stocks on it.... no Hogue.
Now days when a new shooter claims ....yeah these 50 BMG Stocked rifles don't really kick at all.....I say Hmmmm....jus a second here while I remove this knarly chunk of vented metal here on the end of the barrel....it shoots better......:D
Ahhhhh...the old days.

38-55 cause you gotta be a scientist to figure out a good load; 45-90 cause the recoil sucks for the range you get. .43 Spanish(11mmMauser) cause it takes a week to make twenty cases and the gun is not accurate anyway. And finally, 52 Sharps w/fulminated paper cartridges- pisses of the wife making the paper in the oven and the flint-lock type combustion when you yank the chain. Still do it anyway. F

I have both but carry the .40.
13 rounds instead of 7 or 8, and I prefer the double action of my SIGs.
I have the best of both worlds 45 ACP and high capacity, all in a 1911 package,
never saw the need for dbl action. either way there is one in the chamber, and its
still a single action after the first shot.

the ones that don't go '' BANG''
+1 and those that go bloop or pop.

Got a .270 killed just as many things with it as the 30-06.

the 30-30 in a TC cntender brought back some memories!! that had to be the nastiest gun to shoot that caliber. I got into shooting metalic shilouettes in the early 80's and bought one. The first time I shot it it was with some factory ammo, I was laying in the back of a friends station waggon with the gun resting on the side of my leg. when I fired it the recoil made the gun kick back so much it put a dent in the roof with the front sight. It kicked worse than the 7mm 08 xp100 I had.
