Yep, built myself an ultralight on one and love it. Used a pencil barrel J&T kit to complete. The lowers are light, well made and easy to assemble. Only takes a couple of modifications to make it work and both are easy. Comes in just under 6 lbs with an empty mag. Matched the tan stock/receiver with a tan M4 handguard. Email me with any specific questions. By the way this is my 4th AR and one of my favorites.

I was wondering if the lower is threaded for the buffer tube. Thinking if the butstock can be cut off, and a collapsable installed in it's place? Just haven't seen one up close in person.

No buffer tube. The buffer runs in a slot or tube molded into the stock. Nothing gained by doing what you suggest. The weight is in the butt stock. Maybe you should consider the carbon fiber lowers if weight is the issue.
