I have an extra IMI 7.62 barrel can this be chambered for 30-06? I have started to ream and I have chips so I don't think this one is chromed.

Short answer is no.

longer answer the 308 shoulder is wider than the taper of the 30-06 which means fireforming a case which stays put. you would have to cut the threads back to deepen the 06 to get rid of the sholder now the barrel is too short........

Well since you started you might as well finish their will be a ring left over from the 308 shoulder though.

I just got it! But alas I went ahead and tried anyway. I have a lathe and might try? I buggered up this barrel removing a case head that seperated on my first shoot. Once I set the headspace it ran well but screwed up the cases. I just thought I could save $150
Once a boat anchor I guess???

I never tired it, but I think cutting that stellite lining would be rough on a reamer!

It would not be to short for a shorty build.
