Hi Gang,

Does anyone have any experience with or owns any of the Ciener conversions ? I am interested in the M-16 & Glock versions ! I've heard a negative comment on the Glock conversion and that they are nothing but trouble ! My intention is to put a suppressor on a .22LR converted Glock ! The M-16, well, you all know about the price of ammo.....:(

I have an ar-15 that i built from a kit just for a .22 to have the ciener converison in .22lr it works like a charm. Have fired over 6k of 22lr out of it and only a few jams out of the 6k. Im very very happy with it. I have a friend that bought a black dog magazine and he said it wasnt worth S&^t. So i bought a spare one of his mags and it works wonderful. the price is like 65.00 for it but i like metal mags over plastic ones anyday.

John Ciener conversions...

John Ciener conversions... From what I found is that if you do not use ammo which is hot enough to cycle the bolt you will have extraction/cycling issues... I've used both the conversion for the AR/M16 and the 1911 both had ammo issues not quality of product issues... Best bet is head to the gun show buy a box of this a box of that and see which one cycles best and stick with that...

I hear good things about the Black dog mags too... The sure look alot better than what ciener sells...

As for a dedicated 22 barrel thats for people that are looking for more accuracy out of there 22's... and the fact that most folks don't like to really scrub the barrel of all the lead before switching back to .223... Which is something you have to do...

Thanks for the tip...I understand about the leading...but...I would probably try and get copper coated .22LRs to fire from the M-16....

Understood...I'm just looking for plinking fun on full-auto....don't care about paper punching...if I have to buy a dedicated upper to go along with the Ciener conversion then it too expensive for my use. All I want is reliability...:) and plinkability.....HEY LOOK....a new word...:p

Ciener is a total prick

Ciener is a prick and does NOT stand behind his products. His name is crap at Knob Creek and 90% of the folks down there will echo my sentiments.

I have owned several M16 22 kits, at least 5, and they all have barely worked. The firing pins break or they wear to the point where they are not reliable. The metal is soft and not very good tolerances.

You definately take your chances, some kits work well but most do not. I tinkered with all mine over the years and occasionally can get a whole mag dump but not often. Semi they work much better, less complex.

I would give ANYONE money before I will ever spend another dime on a ciener product.

i would have to agree. ciener is not friendly... at least with our ecperiences.

i will also agree with the black dog mags. we could never get a full mag dump on a ciener mag in our fa lower.

we were out at a shoot and borrowed a blackdog to try out. dumped all 30 every time. we ended up selling our ciener mags the next day and ordered blackdogs. they should be here shortly.

as for the kit we have not had too much trouble. mags have rellly only been our issue. i have heard you want to use jacketed ammo as well. no lead points.

I have a Ciener AR15/m-16 conversion mine works ok but I've had to tinker with it to get it to work well, polish change springs rework the ejector, I bought it used with three 30 rd mags for $200. It was well used when I got it so I don't feel to bad about having to repair/work on it... I'd agree with almost every one else that has said thing about them.. ammo sensitive yup... Ciener is a prick yup.. they wear out, break firing pins yup.. and gum up fast on full auto, yup...no bolt hold open is also a pain in the ass with the double feed/ stove pipe jam that is most common. It may work better with the suppressor installed as it will give it more back pressure, I use federal Bulk pack copper wash ammo.... UI also try to use it on the longer barrels 20" with the A1 1-12 twist the 22 bullets seep to shoot better with the slower twist. I'd also agree that a dedicated barrel is a better deal but for full auto fun it will not matter much as your just spraying bullets down range anyway... here is the other option get a 9mm conversion for your M-16... the 9mm is cheap to reload....:D B2B

HI EVERYONE...I want to thank you all for your comments & advice! I am not a tinkerer nor am I a gunsmith. If it doesn't work out of the box, I would be lost. I think at this point I will skip the Ciener units......
