Well, I didn't want to steal the original thread so here is a related question...

We have all seen public places which post signs prohibiting carrying of a firearm. Now, these are not places where it is illegal to carry, state or local law does not prohibit your weapon on their premises. It is just "store" or business policy to ban them.

So, question....Out of everyone that frequently carries concealed...

How many of you will still carry in a location where the business has posted no weapons, despite the post?

Never... they post no firearms allowed I turn around and leave... never to return. They can do without my money and I can afford to do without whatever they were selling or can get it elsewhere.

I did that to a Costco here locally. Ordered up about $7k in goods for (supposedly) major Superbowl shindig (including a pair of 50 inch Panasonic Plasmas) and told them I'd be there next morning. Also told them I was carrying a firearm and hoped they wouldn't have a problem with that. Was told in no uncertain terms I would have to leave the firearm outside. I cancelled the order and they kinda freaked a bit. I told them why and hung up.

Doesn't really matter to them. I heaved the Costco card a year ago. Didn't really need it... they're more expensive than other similar stores anyhow.

I'm with Shattered. Anyone that discriminates against people like me (and y'all) certainly has the right to choose to do so, and I respect their right to choose to be that way. That said, however, I refuse to spend MY money in any place that chooses to embrace that policy. They have their rights; I have mine. Their competition doesn't usually seem to mind.

I will walk away when i can, but sometimes you dont have much choice, especially when that place is the only game in town to get what your looking for. I have looked around and mainly i dont see any signs posted against carrying, but that dont stop a manager from asking you to leave, if your unsure just put your shirt over it (if you have ccw of course)

As far as carrying when a sign says you cant in a non governmental building, well thats what concealement is for and i wont confirm nor deny ever doing so ;)

I have heard of costco being against open carry, but i have never heard of them saying you couldnt carry concealed, and i have yet to ever see a sign on there door saying no guns allowed (only recently have i started shopping there because my wife got a card and personally dont think the prices are any better than wallyworld).

Dennys on the other hand does have that sign, but it was almost hidden behind the counter person - but they can keep their shitty food and service as far as im concerned - especially the one in goodyear AZ, a big middle finger goes out to them.

That's a very fair, reasonable approach. Both sides have their views and preferences, and we negotiate, adapt or compromise as we see fit. We can't always have it all our own way, but we can try to influence things in the direction we'd like to see them go.
