I purchased a CETME on Gunbroker :D and I have a couple Questions I'm hoping someone on here can answer.

1. I purchased the firearm from a private individual, not an FFL. The FFL dealer I am using, to ship to, said he needs a copy of the sellers Driver Lisence for his records. Is this true?

2. The purchase comes with 100 rnds of 7.62x51mm. Can he ship the ammo with the gun, or does it have to be shipped seperately?

I purchased a bunch of stuff on Gunbroker. But never a firearm. Just want to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. Thanks for the help

The dealer may well require it for his records, to show who and where the gun came from in case it comes back stolen. The ammo has to ship seperately, with the proper ORM-D labeling.

Not necessary, not required. The dealer just wants it for his own paranoid reasoning. All he needs is a full name and address.

Well yes and no. The law says the FFL must reasonably confirm the identity of the seller for his books. If it is done FTF, most FFLs will look at your DL to confirm the picture matches the person in front of them and record the address on the DL along with the DL number in their receiving books. For a non FTF the FFL still needs some sort of identification to show that he reasonably believes the name and address given for the seller. To just record a name and address without any backup is putting the FFL at risk to some extent. This is why a lot of FFLs will only receive an out of state firearm from another FFL. They figure the shipping FFL took in the firearm via FTF and properly identified the seller, so they only need to show it came from another FFL on their books.

Like you said... easier, but not required.

1. No, that is not true. If the sender is an FFL, the dealer is required to log the sellers name and FFL number. IF the sender is not an FFL, the dealer is required to enter into his log the sellers name, address and some sort of identification and date of birth.

Although the seller may want the drivers license info of the sender, that is not required by federal law. That is a personal desire on behalf of the ffl dealer.

There are some dealers who will not accept a firearm from a non ffl altogether.

2. I don't know the answer on the ammo, I haven't had that come up.

If you don't ask for the seller's DL, what form of identification do you use for your books, from out of state sellers?
