In 91 I bought the exact same rifle this guy had for $69 and it was the last one in the exact same crate as his that I also purchased for $10. Still have both.

Since we are bragging about being old. My first M1 Garand was bought out of a 55 gallon drum at a gun show in SoCal.
Right around $100. Cash and carry. Times have changed.

That is cool amigo. I always wanted to make a coffee table with a crate of Garands, but could never justify in my mind having a $10K-ish coffee table. I'm generally pretty cheap uhhhh frugal.

I can remember when you did that project Rory......at the time $1100.00 was out of reach for me or I would have done one too......and yes, it would probably be gone (or broken) by now here too......always like the idea tho!!

I remember buying crates of 10 chinese SKS's for $500.....$50 ea. A few of us got together and bought one crate the first time and three the next. They were too cheap to not buy. AK's were expensive when they first hit the market but they got down to about $120 for a basic chinese rifle and even the hungarians were under $200 for a little while. Things have changed and who knows where all that stuff went. We sold off the SKS's at $75 ea and thought we were shitting in tall cotton. I think the crates eventually got burned because they took up too much space and smelled like camphor and grease....

SKS...$39.95. AK47...$89.95...both dealer price about 1986(?). M1 Garand...$59.95 at K-Mart in 55 gal blue plastic barrels about 1972(?).

As a dealer then (1977-2008).
