I visited with Dolf at the Creek and found out he was publishing a “new” Vickers book - not through collector grade but another publisher: he gave me a flyer to pre-order it and i of course lost it - anyone else get the info?

Book is being published by Chipotle Publishing, same company that puts out Small Arms Review.

I spoke with Sara there last week, the book is due out sometime after the first of the year. She said updates will be posted on their website.

I spoke to Megan a few weeks ago, date of release seemed somewhat ambiguous.

Also offered them unique photos of cutaway Lithgow Vickers, Vickers aircraft gun, and the only (AFAIK) Portuguese Vickers transit chest, but no response; seems Dan isn't interested in more material.

Nice thing is that when it's released it will be Grand Old Lady Plus without the $500 price tag.

I won't rush to do that, the original Vickers book was beautifully published on glossy paper with clear photos. Other books by Dolf were not produced to the same standard.
I will not but then again, I probably will not buy the new Vickers book either at $100. One is good enough for me and I don't really ever think I will add a Vickers to my collection. Two Watercooled German Maxims is enough for me unless money becomes a lot less of an issue in the future!

It would be nice if the book was ready for the SAR show in December. I'd just fill the back seat of my car with them so as to not further enrich the shipping companies.

EDIT: Thanks @ajmdreammg42 for posting that flyer

Duh. GOLONML.

@maim: isn't going to happen. I'd like that too, I'd have a copy fast so I can return my borrowed copy of GOL.

Yeah, :( I spoke with a couple gentlemen this past weekend at the Big Sandy that know for absolute certainty that it won't be available until Q1-2019.

I'm just going to fill out the form and hand it to Dolf with a check attached, at the SAR show, thank you again for posting it.

Just a reminder...

Other than FA guns,1917 carts,US armor,US stamps....I also collect books. This is just a reminder to those whose book collections have grown to the 13+ library book shelve number.

I met a gentleman,a retired TWA pilot,at a Ft.Wayne,IN gun show in the mid-90's. He was a 1911 Colt collector and had written an extensive book on the 1911 and was filled with many rare photo's and published professionally. He had tried to get it published by several firms...but finally had to pay out of his own pocket to get it done. His name was 'Coleson'. Bought a dozen...numbered,signed by author....and given as presents to several friends. He had only gotten 300-printed. Price was about $75 a copy. Current price for the original books is about $1,200.00 for a signed, numbered copy.

I encourage those of us who have similar interests to remember this addage. Recently saw a member here who offered several volumes for sale. Most were out of print. All were offered at very reasonable prices. The one I bought was recently up for sale on Amazon for over $600. Most of the books by noted author's in the firearms field increase in value way beyond their published price. Just a reminder.

I have many of the collector grade books signed by the authors and even more fun when you are listed in the credits. I don't think I ever regretted buying good books, and it seems some I bought many years ago ar worth a lot. Well, at some point maybe the grand kids can go to college on the money they will make selling them ?

I’m still waiting for the new Vickers book. Wait wait wait. I’m a bit PO because I offered them material they don’t have, and crickets yet the book isn’t printed.

And the new Bren book. Another one supposedly done just waiting for printing.

Meanwhile The FN FAL Primer has sold well but still under 500’copies. That’s going to be a real collectible.
