I am trying to get an idea of a price for a early WWII Tripod and T&E?
I have a 1919a4 in the 42 range and am thinking about getting a complete set up for it.
I will probably have to sell some parts and trying to get a idea what is available and price.

there are a number of factors involved, are you talking about with the bronze azimuth ring? If you find one without the ring but with the early pintle mount Toolman reproduced the rings.

Glad you got home okay, with all the stuff intact. Great to have you with us, John, and I hope we can talk you into coming out again. Russ is out cold at last, and I am not long for it this evening in N.Y.

Meanwhile, Rustyiron, that is a very fair price on gunbroker. Originals are hard to find, and expensive when you do find them. But getting a decent pod of the right vintage, as you know the repro azimuth rings are a great option. It can be done for a bit less money I think.

What Lucky#13 says is correct, ToolmanM203's reproduction azimuth rings are beautiful (the best available and fairly priced). I should say that in general the early tripods are the easiest of the three pieces to find. The indexed pintle and aluminum wheeled early T&E's are the more difficult pieces to find and are not cheap.

The one on gun broker is very nice, fairly priced, and in very good condition for such an old tripod. The only nit is that it is missing its brass name plate, many were removed after world war II and a reproduction plate could be added as all the pertinent tag information is stamped into the tripod.
