Well, I'll keep this simple. What does one expect to pay in todays market for a decent Hakim rifle? Dutch on here (hottak47) let me shoot his at the wisconsin shoot a while back and I liked it. Wanted one, but could never find one. Well, now I found one, but want to know what they go for. It's in real nice shape too.

By the way, anyone else beside dutch have one? Anything to know ahead of time? Thanks...

i have seen the recently around 400$ in decent shape. not great shape just decent. i would expect to pay around there for it. the romy shoots the best out of this rifle, out of everything that we tested. thats really all i have. they are a hoot to shoot.

if it is missing any parts especially the forgrip area or the metal band do not expect to be able to replace these without actually carving a new one yourself.

hope that this was of some help

Dutch warned me about the missing handguard problem. Pretty much non-existant.

Hakim Pricing

In western Wisconsin the last ones I've seen are from $300-500 depending on condition. The last ones released had damaged stocks that were repaired by application of a black plastic like finish, and these are at the low end of the price range. In case you did not notice they are LOUD and also crush the casing when ejecting it. The gas feed is adjustable to help with cycling different ammunition. I've had some ammunitioin that if you did not adjust the gas it was ripping off the case rim.

These are actually a copy of the Swedish rifle, with slight changes when the Swedes had a partnership after WWII with the Eygptions. You may look for one of these as an alternative. The downside is they are another $100-200 more and there is no cheap ammo. The upside is 6.5x55 is now common here, the rifles were not used with corrosive ammunition so the bores are better, and there are some parts available. It must have been amusing to have blue eyed blond haired Swedish engineers working in warm sunny Eygpt.

The following link has a tutorial on the Hakim and many other common military firearms.

Also there is a small gun show in Barron, WI this weekend I'll check and post if I see one there.

Thanks MT. Well, I shoulda put this in my first post here, but the reason I am asking what they go for, is I actually just won one online last night for $450 and it looks damn near unfired, reeeeal clean. I just wanted to see if it was a good deal or not, after the fact.

I also just read that exact page MT-AC, even thought the link you gave isn't working...hahaha :D

I guess I made out pretty average then. The guy also had one of those swedish version AG-42 rifles also, the "swedish hakim". That one went for more money though.

I bought 4 for $99. each, kept 2. AG42 mags can be used in place of the Hakim mag if needed. the gas ajst tool is quite rare, and also fits the Rasheed carbine gas valve too. the hakim was made to diejest any 8mm crap the Egyptians (Nasser really, but that's a whole diffrent story!!! ) had laying about from ww2 nazi junk,so the ajustable gas system, the ag42 gas system is not really ajustable , and the muzzle brake/compensator is built right into the barrel before the frt sight, on the Hakim the muzzle/comp is right on the end of the barrel ( and way bigger too!!) the rasheed does not have a brake or comp, but does have a AK thread so that any AK muzzle acsry will screw right on, tho most will prevent the extention or locking of the attached bayonet....... got one of each :) love the hakim even w the steel butt plate. I can shoot and hit all day w it in spite of my broken coller bone (turn 5 willow springs / turn 2 sears point:( ) us made 8mm sucks, see if you can find olyimpic match or privy partizan (yugo made/ nny stamp) 8mm , it's made to full house specs (196gr @ 2700/2800 ftps) puts nice holes in 1/4" steel [email protected] 150 yrds even w sp's not fmj's :D the Egyptian went from the remmington rolling blocks to brit enfeilds to FN 49s to the Hakim/Rasheed to the Madi ak depending on who they were friendly w at the time.....

well I actually got mine about 6 years ago, I bought it during the Max Atchison auction (you know the guy, invented the M16 22 conversion and the "lightning Link" as well as a lot of other things), it seems he had a real fondness for the Hakim and the way the gun worked.

Man you guys are in the right place for cheap old battle rifles. Around here an average shooter Hakim is $400 and a real nice one is pushing $600. The Swed AG42B is like $800 and you don't see them very often.

Incidently, The Hakim is a copy of the Swed AG42B and you can modify MG13 mags to fit in the Hakim and give you 25rd capacity

Yes, the $425 for one in really nice shape is a deal at today's prices, grab it. I haven't seen any under $500 for a while and those were not that great. Since everyone else is putting in what they got one for, I'll have to admit I got mine for $100 but it was over 20 years ago. Nowaday extra mags go for almost that much, if you can find one.

You can get a repro gas port tool for about five bucks, and I believe there's an article on surplusrifle to make your own for even less.

i piad 450 for mine last year. it did not have the rear sight riser.
i found one on gunbroker.com. the guy also had a gas adjuster tool and a 25 round mag. i spent aroud i think 125 for the tool riser and mag. it was way worth it. especiall the tool. you will need one to adjust the gas. i shoot romainian ammo out of mine and it does well. do not shoot yugo through it it will cause major issues!!!!!

Thanks EVERYBODY!

I appreciate seeing all the posts from owners of the Hakim rifle! Up until now I thought I was the only weird one that thinks these are great entertainmant, what a relief to know I'm not alone. A question on the MG13 mag, isn't there a modification needed to make these work? Also who has them?

For what its worth, I paid $450 for the Hakim you shot and wacthed me do the 20 degree below zero field strip on. I shoot 50s Yogoslavian through mine all day long and LOVES the 70s vintage. It should do great with the 80s Yugo you got on links.. Remember I got dibs on some of it. I shoot a lot of Romanian through mine and it likes it pretty well.

Did you get your 1919 shooting? Look through your parts when you get a chance and see if my cocking handle got mixed in with your stuff. I'm down here in Texas with no way to cock my shooting iron. The upside is that its 60 degrees. Eat your heart out and best of luck on your Hakim, Dutch

i paid $220.00 for mine about 5 years ago----i also modified some of the mg13 mags to fit----heavy weapon with a full mag---romak 8mm seems to shoot the best ---i've set my reg at the 8:00 position and it eats all types of ammo
450.00 is a pretty good buy as i have seen them going for as much as $600.00

HEY DUTCH! I don't know if you guys know, but dutch here is the one who spent a whole day B.S.ing and helping me build my first 1919. And no dutch, haven't touched it since I got it home. Thats why I jumped on your offer to help me, I get to busy and things get put aside. But spring is comin soon! I will start a thread sometime about the build with pics etc.

Dutch here is also the one who let me shoot his hakim, and hence the starting of this thread. I also appreciate everyones reply's. Keep 'em coming, even if its not about hakim pricing. No need to stay on track with this thread. :D

DUTCH - It's possible I have that handle. We parts EVERYWHERE that day. I'll have to look tonight...

Dutch worked his magic once again. He let me shoot his at Minong a couple of years back, and I found myself forced to find one just like you :) I picked one up for $350, but it needed an ejector, which Dutch knew where to order one, so I guess $400.00 would be about the total price. I cleaned up the stock a little and loosened up the gas port adjuster doohickie, and it shoots like a well tuned watch now. I love it! Keep finding recruits Dutch! :D
