It was probably me, I mentioned something about model trains in a thread about PayPal recently. I collect HO scale brass.

I had some really good HO brass that I traded for pre-war Lionel in Baltimore, Md. way more than a few years ago. His name Lee Karminski, we were in the 2 & 3rd grades together!!!!! 1940's. He was a father when the trade took place. Often wonder if he is still alive.

I have a bunch of top-shelf O from MTH, Lionel and Third-Rail (brass) and some from Weaver. Weaver made a brass GG-1 in 1/48 (??) along with some really classy Hiawatha sets.........one Hudson, one Pacific. At 84, my time is over, need to start disposing of this stuff.

Can you suggest some sites??

I sold a bunch of Lionel O gage on Ebay in the past. Another option I've been thinking about was to attend a model train show. I sometimes do the Medina Gun Show and they have also have a train show a couple times a year. Problem for me besides time would be pricing everything before the show. EB just list it and let the buyers decide price.

I have used Ebay some time ago. Wasn't complicated then....buyer sent a check, you shipped to him...as I understand it now, they want your bank account number, I must have an electronic payment situation, they collect sales tax and then the Infernal Revolution folks are informed. I have moo-coo bucks worth of this stuff and would like to make more private deals.

I have been to the biggy swap meet at York, smaller ones elsewhere. Seems all of these swap meets rules require everything to be price marked. I have been out far too long to know anything about current prices/values........

I sold some stuff on WTS: section of a toy train site some years ago........can't seem to find that one now.

Kinda funny this came up now. I just gave my youngest son a box of train set parts from when I was very young - pre-teen days back in the 60's. We had no money, so settled for American Flyer brand train sets and lots of home made parts and accessories for the table. He actually got it up and running a couple of weeks ago....

Sorry - no pics available [yet]

If you are on Facebook there are a number of collector pages you can join, there you will be able to post photos and ask questions about value. Some do allow sales on their pages.

There are forums for trains just like this place. And I know a buddy of mine had a place come look at enclosed trail full of trains from when his dad died. And they offered I think to buy them all or sell them for him and take a cut. I can ask if you would like.

My Father is a train collector. Mainly toy train, Marx tin and other early tin. He always loved the Hiawatha but never had one. If you want to shoot me over some info, I could possibly be interested assuming its O-Gauge. [email protected]

The easy way to dispose of them is to sell them to someone here that you trust, and let them flip them. Yes, they will discount what you get paid, but once you calculate in the costs of (for example) Ebay, and the risks of non-payment, and worse the complainers who rip you off, it balances out. And the time- for each item you sell on Ebay it takes what, 20+ minutes to photo, post, answer questions, pack and ship.

If you're so inclined you can join a train forum and sell them there, but that's work too and you'll generally ship piece-by-piece.

For stuff that's not in your expertise, just sell as one lot to a trustworthy soul. Time is money.

Northeast Ohio. I bought some old motorcycle parts through them a while back. Don't know what their fees are. I do remember paying a buyers premium. They do toys, collectables, and firearms also.
