Ill have to look and get back to you as the parts are all at work. It looks like a 1917 latch with a piece of a 1919 latch (the part you pull back on with your finger) welded onto the slope part of the latch Itself. I hope that makes some kind of sense.? Ill let you know.

please dont go out of your way. i hate to say it, but im not really interested in purchasing it, just want to see who made it - and if youre too busy, i understand.

i have seen several just like you mention and they were all made by the same manf. and im curious if yours may have been also?

Thanks, and sorry to hijack your thread.

jmann

it is a standard 1917 latch that has had the knurled knob removed and they weld a finger pull onto the right side of the latch - really horrible job too.

ive seen 5-6 of them and they were ALL made by buffalo arms and stamped BA

im just curious if bigblocks has the same BA stamping

The funky latch has no markings or #s on It. It is welded in two places and looks to have two rivets holding it on also. Someone bought the top plate so the latch is reduced to $15. shipped.

Ha! So just where do you think you are going to find that 1919 aircraft gun latch, eh jmann? That looks like the Colt production version. I do have a 1918 aircraft latch, but it is not for sale. Just rubbing it in a bit. ;)

I too am curious about any marking on your weird latch when you get to it, bigblock.

I looked on the funky latch and there was no markings at all. I honestly think there was some bored isreali with a welder welding random parts. I get back plates with a big glob of weld where I think Its cracked, grind said weld off and theres no crack undernieth. Also side plates that have all the feed guides that are riveted on welded in place too. Im assuming they got a surplus of parts some of them being 1917 parts and messed with them. obviously a 1919 latch is a better design and they basicly turned It into a 1919 version. For so much interest in this thing Im suprised no one has bought It! sorry no puppy but I can throw in a picture of my cat vato?:D There is still alot of stuff for sale so bump to the top.
