Awesome...so if I want to capture the market and I want to sell stuff, I should start auctions on the 18th and run them for 7 days......there will be much less competition during that one week.....:p

Just kidding....I see **** on ebay I'd like to buy, but I can't stand dealing with them, with paypal and with their stupid rules......I hope they go out of business.

Well the Bully seems to be under the impression that the sellers work for them,
I for one don't!
all they did is provide a venue for me to sell my stuff on.
I closed my auctions and my store last night,
I'm done with them! the ban on gun parts was bad enough,
with everything else they are pulling I have had it.

I'll keep selling on GunBroker and
I am now trying OnlineAuction.com its smaller
but maybe if others start using it, it will take off
Oh and by the way they allow guns and gunparts!

I don't sell on eBay, but once in a while I do buy things. However, it's often months at a time go by without me buying anything that way. So it's easy enough for me to go along with this boycott.

My guess, though, is that the boycott will pass virtually unnoticed by eBay. They are such a gigantic operation on a global level that the relatively small number of people who will participate in this boycott will not have much impact. There are lots of people who depend on eBay for their income, and will not be willing to cut their earnings short. And the vast majoity of eBay users simply will not be aware of your boycott and probably wouldn't give a damn even if they were aware.

The best hope is that other companies will set up more online marketplaces. eBay got as big as it is simply by getting out there first and publicizing the hell out of it. Everyone has heard of eBay. But as other competitors appear, eBay will have to respond in order to remain competitive. So support the alternative sites - that will do more than a boycott will.

I am one of those people who depends partly on eBay, but they are giving unfair advantage to some, taking higher percentages from the little guy while catering to the power sellers,
one negitive feed back and your items will no longer be seen by the search engine.
sellers can no longer post negitave feed back.

they hurt me last year with the ban on gun part sales cut my sales by over 2/3rds. If the think I work for them thats fine, but I want health coverage and all that goes with a job! as of last night
I QUIT!

ebay nazis

Since I haven't been able to work a regular job for three years I have done a lot of selling on ebay, for the most part it has been a good experience, they tick me off about some of their NAZI style regulations, they are very strict on gun parts and ammo stuff but yet allow people to sell full bottles of cognac, I love it when I see people selling stuff that shouldn't because they have found a sneaky way to list it that avoids the censor programs, I live in a very small town 3 hours from the nearest big city so I don't have much choice about selling there, I will be checking out other sites this week since I won't list any thing till the boycott is over, I know it won't have the effect we hope but hopefully it will hurt them a little and give other sites a chance to get some new business, if anyone has suggestions of places to list old car parts I would love to hear about it.

wow, a whole 7 day boycott...........yeah, that'll show that evil ebay, those guys mean business

a few thousand, out of millions of folks that use ebay, they will hardly be missed.

bottom line, the boycotters will get a warm and fuzy feeling, like they are doing something, but in reality it will be like wearing dark pants and pissing on themselves.............if will have a warm feeling, and it won't be noticed

Unless we try we will never know!

You might as well have that attitude about the presidential election, millions of people vote but what difference will it make we'll still end up with someone we don't want....... So why vote? For a warm fuzzy feeling? It's that kind of attitude that has made this country into what it is today! If you surrender to the other side you'll never win.

I guess you feel the same way about the fight to keep our right to keep and bear arms...... why bother there's millions of people that don't own
guns why fight? unless it give you a warm fuzzy feeling.........

There's a story in the Bible about the whole Jewish army fearing a giant of a man...... a shepherd boy with a sling and a stone took him down! Good thing nobody said to him....
Hey what do you think your doing you'll just piss him off with that stone boy now go home and tend the flock.......... all it took was belief and a stone!

There is too much why bother or "lets compromise" in this world. How about WE HAVE TO TRY! and NO COMPROMISE!

I quit dealing with E-bay about 2 years ago... I'll sell my stuff on places like this board versus dealing with them. No way in hell will I go back to selling there!

Too many other resources are available to the general public!

Big difference there, the RKBA is a on going fight, there is no time limit.......what these yahoos are doing amounts to nothing but pissing in the wind. 7 days, they might have said 1 hour for the good that it's going to do. it isn't even a "compare apples to orange" argument.

you said it right in the first few words, it's a story......nothing based on fact, it's a tale to inspire. .

now if you believe that this "boycott" wiill work, then go ahead and jump on that band wagon. let us know how it turns out

Well, one of the great curmudgeons from the old days of this forum still lives on. Armored Command is long gone, but Slowfire still lives!

Curmudgeon or not, what he says is on target. As I mentioned earlier, I think the boycott will pass unnoticed. But, I won't talk anyone out of trying. And if, by some lucky chance, it does result in something positive - great! If it doesn't have any effect - well, it's a learning experience. I still think the real way to have an effect is to support competition against eBay. Their near monopoly on internet swap-meet business is their real power base. When they have more serious competitors they will either adapt or phase out of "troublesome" areas.

BINGO.........give that man a cigar. You hit it on the head, the only thing that will get their attention, is if they find out, by the numbers, that their seller and buyer base is leaving in significant numbers over a period of time to some other auction site, that it affects their bottom line( Transalation: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$)........ anything less is, like I said, pissing in the wind and telling yourself it's raining.

all one has to do is just look what e-bay did to the gun auction sites, their numbers are up then it has been before on those sites.

No argument with the substance of your statements, but rather with the presentation. Bill S says it without the condescension.
