There is a lot of talk on the web about what will things be like this time next year.
A lot of gun Manufactures are not taking any new orders ,People are saying if you have got to order it ,Don't.
Dealers are cutting the slow movers ,or the ones they have got to wait on.
FNH and H&K are downsizing the staff in America.
Sig and Glock are cutting imports here by 1/3rd ,and even Kimber is slowing down.
Political Fear ? or just being smart ,but it doesn't look good.

I think a lot of the slowdown is due to less disposable income due to rising fuel and food costs, not to mention the housing slowdown. While I am concerned as to what might happen no matter who wins the election I am not sure all that many politicians want to jump onto that bandwagon as fast as they did in '94, we also need to see what decision the Supreme court hands down in June.

I suspect things may change some no matter who wins(we will loose) but unless(I sure hope not) a major shooting spree happens I am not sure things will change that rapidly.

I'd have to go along with 30cal on both counts... Other than the basics, shooting is still a sport and a hobby with a lot of folks. When money gets short, there one of the first things to suffer

If the Dem. do get into office, the Rep. will have to put up some kind of fight ( I HOPE !!!) to get us to vote for them the next go around....Lou

I also agree with the previous statements. Look at how much even we, as a group, have lessened our shooting large amounts of ammunition. Many of us have shortened our expenditures on shooting, and we are the mainstays of beltfed semi-auto's here! :)

Sure there is concern for what the future holds for gunowners, but if you research the market on almost any product, there have been many cut backs and downsizings. Times are just that tough right now, and the occasional purchasers of firearms are tightening there belts and not spending freely.

I agree, the economy is in the crapper. people are paying more for gas, food and living expenses so less to spend on toys. in addition it seems that a lot of states have eased up on concealed carry and adoped better self defense laws. even in some of the media it seems they agree that banning guns is not the solution. with the interned and all these forums it is easy to organize people and let the politicians know how we feel enmass.

Agreed on the economy, it's hitting the bike market too. Star had the Raider in development for two years, saw the excess on the market from the last two models intro'd in 06, and seriously cut back the production run on the Raider. When I got mine in April, there were 8 left in N. CA in my color scheme.

But, I don't discount the OP's ideas either. June should bring some good news, but I doubt that in the end, this will make a difference to the sitting Prez, not a friendly in the lot.

No matter who gets in the white house this time - or in Congress either - it would take time to get laws passed. And even candidates like Hillary are at least acknowledgeing that they are concerned about the pro-gun faction being an important voting block. Newly elected candidates won't want to commit political suicide right away - they'll at least wait until they've established themselves in the system. And has been pointed out - everyone will be waiting to see what the ruling by the Supreme Court is and what ramifications that ruling has.

As much as I complain about the anti-gun factions and their strength - I have to admit that the pro-gun people have learned something from the "assault weapon" ban, and are being more vocal now than they had for a while. More vocal and more politically active.

The mood all across talk Radio is that conservatives simply were not going to vote for President ,that enough is enough and they are sick of a liberal being passed off as (Our Man ) as they have for the last 15 years.
Now they are voting for Barr , Governor Palin in her radio address last week that she understood the frustration voters have in pulling any lever for McCain. One caller from the lower 48 asked her if she would run as his VP ,and that would turn heads big time .She said she hasn't been asked .
She said that if enough votes go to Mr Barr ,hopefully for the first time a third party would show it is viable.
And it would send a message to Washington that 1/3rd of this nation isn't buying this anymore , and that would be Millions of votes voicing anger in the way the system is locked down really as one party ,and they are only a differant shade of red ,but still red.

In 2007, I made more money then I ever had... Although my expenses gone through the roof (mostly because work relocated me). I had to end up selling a few things that I didn't want to. Lots of jeep parts, a few airsoft guns at way too low, and even guns and ammo. For the first time ever, I sold some of my firearms! I sold my AK, and two WWII Lee Enfields. :(

I'd like to load up on guns and ammo before certain laws go into effect here in CA, but I just don't have that kind of money anymore. Trying to make things better, I'm going to be moving here (hopefully) in a few months.
