Dan thanks for the info, I have been told that the base is a Colt and the top cross head was from a Turkish AA model. The cross head is marked .303 maxim and dated 1918. the base is marked Vickers Machine gun mount -manufactured by Colt patent firearms with no date. Any pic info you have would be appreciated, I have not done much research on this mount sense I picked it up a couple of years ago.
I received some more info and found out that the Turkish mounts were conversions of old British mounts supplied in 1940-41 and that most of the colt mounts went to the Brits under lend lease 1939-40. So this one has been around.
