from surplus like Sarco are complete with an integral booster for 30-06. TARGSHOOT just redid mine for 7.62 with a new smaller internal bushing, to trap more gas, and re-parkerized it. His work is great, prices fair, and shipment fast. Well done and thanks. :) :) :) Overbore

What's the difference between 308 & 3006 flash hider. The bore ?
Does the flasher hider also incorperate the booster? Someone please educate me. Thanks gordy

The .308 does not generate as much gas pressure as the 30-06. The bore opening was made smaller on the .308 to trap more gas and increase the pressure to a point that it will reliably operate the 1919 action. Think along the lines of a blank firing adapter, it has a very small hole that traps most of the gas in the barrel so the blank can function the action.

The flash hider and booster are one assembly.

flash hider

from all the boosters and flash hiders ive measured are as follows
izzy boosters= .531 - + .003
USGI M6 flash hider .721 + - .003
USGI boosters .718 + - .003
you can use G.I. boosters for 8mm:)
Thanks for the info guys.

Targshoot: do make a 308 flash hider by sleeving the 3006 hider ? If so would it be a press fit or tig the sleeve in place and then maybe turn in on a lathe to correct size ? If this is how one can be made what grade steel would one want to use for the sleeve ? Thanks for any help you maybe able to give .

A lot of different people have made these over the years, way before the internet and these gun boards. I have one from 1989 done in CT.

i have never welded in a bushing. mine are made on a lathe then pressed in and crimped with special tooling i made just for that job. i have attempted to remove a sleeve i installed and it was not easy. i dont like modifiying parts to the extent they are permanet. unless absolutley no other way around it. comes from lessons learned. the material i use is cold rolled bar stock. :)

My flash hider

now re-done perfectly, is going to be re-modified with 12 O'Clock vent holes, outside the booseter area ( would you gents believe a bee sting on the end my my tyuping finger today??) not fun--to reduce muzzle vertical movement thereby keeping the front sight closer to target ( Izzy A6 ). Anyone else tried this mod?  Overbore

And he does great parkerizing work! I highly recommend his work.
