Hi I am building an FN 30 and would like to remove the barrel shroud. I heated it up with an oxy-acetalene torch and tapped on it with an aluminum punch so I would not leave hammer marks I had an 18" bar through the ventalation holes but couldnt budge it. It is now soaking in a thin oil overnight, anyone with some ideas as I dont want to damage anything. The barrel shroud is put on backwards as the hole for the fixing screw is at the booster end. Thanks Al

2 screws

Just looked at mine. There is a screw on the rear. If I remember from building it, I had to sand slightly to find the screw head, then i used a dremil cutter to put a slot in the head. Mine was soldered on also.I put the trunnion in a vise, used mapp gas and a large punch with a pipe extension thru the cooling holes. Had to keep it hot the entire time. Went together much easier as I cleaned all the threads.

Mine has a screw in both ends of the shroud and is silver soldered. I did the build without taking it off. You can still do the rivets with it on.
