I saw only a brief vid of it before...I like this one better. A shotgun is my first love...wish I could have one of those babies.

AA12 Shotguns

This one lacks that chilling sound of a round being racked, but sure makes up for it in steel on target.

That video has so many facts wrong it's incredible.

The original gun was designed by Max Atchisson in the early '70s and called the Atchisson Assault 12 and was offered to the public in the early '80s. The company was called Sceptre, Inc. The very first one looked very much like an overly large M16. The one offered to us was the plastic clam shell thingie, similar to the video. Cost of the gun was $400 in full auto. Deposit was $100 in advance. I ordered 2 in 1981. Never got them.

Turned out the company went toes up and no guns were built, no deposits were ever recovered. This guy was like Geoff Herring and the infamous Shrike, took all the deposits to produce the gun, and delivered nothing. Well, mebbe at least Ares has delivered about a dozen of the hundreds ordered in the last 6 years.

Yeah I remember seeing him at a gun show in Colorado in 80 or 81
had a promo video running and was pushing for investors, He had a
slick promo pack of paper work with a nice folder, I may still have it some where.
It's a cool looking bit of hardware, but I think the
Sagia 12 ga. is a better buy. at least you'll be able get mags and parts for it.

By the way does anyone else find the ex-seal on Future Weapons
annoying? especially his urgent wispery voice? I can never watch the whole program,
I feel like I'm watching a bad limitation of Captian James T Kirk! and at least he was entertaining.

I had a chance to look at the Atchinson proto type gun after he passed away and they held his auction, it uses a counter recoiling system to reduce recoil. He had a Garand that he modified also and refered to as the CRACK rifle, it was select fire and was the basis for the counter recoiling reducing system used, you could fire the rifle one handed on full auto, the system worked that well.
unfortunately I only got to look at them but never had the chance to fire either, I do know who has the CRACK rifle though;) .

The History channel did a piece on this gun ,they also had a mountable one with a longer barrel.
This guy also makes a 45ACP submachine with little recoil.
On the show they showed the recoil is absorbed by the bolt coming back ,then falling downward instead of to the rear.

Awrite! Another old fart. You got the principle right on the head. It was the crack system, which stood for Counter Recoiling Action Compensating Kick. It was a fancy term for advanced primer ignition which was simply the cartridge was fired BEFORE the bolt was locked up. It used an extremely long receiver and a 3 pound bolt. That permitted a long, leisurely slide along its full length and the recoil spring transferred the energy from the bolt.

You sure the Crack rifle (308) started out as a Garand? I'm looking at a picture of it now and I don't see much family resemblance.

Yes it is a .410 Mag. Its just an experiment I did a few years ago and I had hopes of marketing it to law enforcement as an entry weapon but I got side tracked with other things and never really pursued it further.

Hmmm .410 Mag 4 pellets in buck as opposed to the three I assume?? While im not a fan of shotguns as Entry Tools, it DOES looke like an interesting little piece.

My thinking was it had a shorter danger range. If used in a high density population area like an apartment building or trailer park while using shot it would not penetrate a sheetrock wall and injure someone next door.

Also several different types of ammo are available. Shot, slug and sabot.

It has a left folding stock and an 11" barrel. Since those pictures were taken I have added a door breacher. With a slug or 93 gr. sabot it will hit a gallon milk jug at 100 meters.
