OK, yes I know it is an airsoft. :( But looking at picking up an airsoft m16 for shooting with the kids. Wife will not let me shoot the AC556 or 10/22 even suppressed in the basement.

so looking for a toy.

Anyone have any experience with these that can say yes or no to certain models? I trust this site more than AR15 or the multitude of "selling site" reviews.

Looking at the UTG model 4 from Leapers. Advertised for about $300 ready to go (no acc.).

Any recomendations other than "get a life":(

Thanks all,

Brian

I have several,,,very fun and cheap to shoot. M1a1 Thompson(Tokyo Marui),MAC 11 (gas gun) very fast,@1200 RPM,,,M14 and MP40. All work great and are hard hitting. Worth the small amount of money. You can also train with them with live buddies(CQB),,,,just wear eye protection.

i was making fun of a friend of mine who has a gun collection that beats mine, even including a few nfa pieces. he started collecting this plastic bb crap. so one day i was at his house before KCR staying the night for an early departure. he hands me this m16 looking and feeling rifle with a can on the end and tells me to shoot it out back. it is pitch black outside. from the barrel comes this green glow. well a whole lot of little green glows. he had glow in the dark pellets and the can had a small camera type flash on the inside that would charge the pellets. sold me. that was way fun.

The UTG is crap. If you want a reliable back yard plinker, get a Toyko Marui.
one good source is www.airsoftextreme.com

Tokyo Marui is a quality brand, with a lesser extent to Classic Army.
Higher end brands are G&G, G&P, and up to the best, such as VFC and Inokatsu.

further info request

Most of what I had heard was positive on te UTG, especially the fit and feel of a real AR15. Only thing I heard was some mild concerns over the internals and not stacking up against the higher end models. But I know nothing about these.

Basically I am looking for a m4 model in the $300 and up range. I looked at the VFC and Inokatsu at ASE web site listed above, but nothing like an M5 model. Guess I would also take a MP5, odd being picky about an airsoft.

Anyone make a Ruger AC556 folder airsoft?

Is the Toyko Marui authentic in size and fit? Doing more research.

Brian

I have an ICS M4 and it is amazingly realistic, all metal. Shoots pretty good too. It was $300 for the set from www.kapowwe.com

I did a fair amount of research and for the money the one I bought seemed to give me power, upgradability and realistic feel.
Here is the specific gun:

http://www.kapowwe.com/Merchant2/me...rbine&Category_Code=Airosft_AEGs&Store_Code=R

Just make sure you order 3x the amount of BB's you think you will need....they go FAST!
The Automatic Electric Guns (AEG) need premium polished BB's they are a few bucks more but I guess it eliminates the jamming. I have been using the .23 gram ones but also have the .20 and .25 gram....I like the middle of the road weight as it gives a fairly flat trajectory and still has some punch...well, as much as a 300FPS plastic BB can have.

battery?

Dave, where does the battery go in that one?

The RIS one is on sale, but it has an external battery holder, no thanks!

With the RIS system, I would have plenty of rail space for vertical grip, horizontal grip, laser, flashlight, Ipod, spare battery, speakers, GPS unit and a nice spice rack!

Can't believe with all these guns, NFA items and ammo I am going to buy an airsoft:eek: Oh-well, kids will love it (that is my excuse:rolleyes:)

anytime bro...

ya know i just took it you were wanting the battery powered versions...

i also use the green gas powered versions, but the battery is just so much easier for my kids...

green gas is loaded and ready in just a few seconds but it is PROPANE in that can and i dont want the kids playing with it if im not home.

just a thought.... cause my girls are devious little angels to say the least.

aint that right Rory? lmao

Toyko Marui (Japan) was the original manufature of AEGs, and for years they were the standard. However as other manufatures came up trying to beat TM, TM continued making guns with heavy grade plastic, rather than low grade pot metal like the competition.

VFC and Inokatsuo are the top ends, being made in Taiwan, and they are expensive. As you may know Taiwan is a democracy and makes most of the worlds quality electronics.

UTG, CYMA, and other knock off brands are made in China. They are made of lesser quality materials and low to no quality control. Most of the positive reviews are from kids trying to save a buck here or there.

I've been doing the airsoft thing for almost 10 years - I've repaired and built many guns, even including my friend's guns too.

I don't want adults playing with the stuff in my own home!

One of my friends was trying to prove to my other friend that green gas wasn't flamable.
Luckily this wasn't my house, and I wasn't there.

Anyhow it ends like this:
Flames shot down the hall way and toasted family photos and knitting hanging on the wall.

yeah my wife didnt understand that either Aaron...

she said: "it doesnt smell like propane"

so then you had to explain to her that they put "the smell" in propane so that you know if there is a leak...

they could make it smell like strawberrys if they wanted to..

so of course now she doesnt even want a can of it in the house. lmao

funny we still have HAIRSPRAY!!! wait till she actually sees whats in that.

back to the brands: yeah ive got a marui and a CYMA... worlds apart in quality!!

I see lots of CYMA parts for sale on forums ;)

The kids break 'em and try to get a few bucks back. I sometimes pick up a part of this or that, like a muzzle break or a top cover... and use them to convert or change parts on my guns. :D

update

Ya know, I never did update this.

Well, it is Saturday night, working tons of hours right now trying to finish building a factory. No one else here..... hmm. Well, look at that, I have my m4 airsoft sitting in the corner. Pop can in the parking lot, open window, unload a mag. Breaks up a long day at work!

Anyways, I ended up buying an ICS M-4 off e-bay. Has the A2 buttstock, flat top, quad rail. Even came with a hard case, 10 mags and an aimpoint that looks real except the intensity switch only has 6 positions and rotates all the way around (no stop). A battery and a bag of bb's included. $190 delivered!

Some kid had it. The buttstock was splitting on the seam so he taped it with electrical tape in 4 places. Some model cement and it is perfect now. It was dirty and needed to be cleaned. Main reason I say it was a kid was he also made his own Mag-pulls for the bottom of the mags. Duct tape and electrical tape on every one! Pay that much for the gun, can't pay for even cheap accessories.

This thing is cool. Handed it to three seperate ex-special forces guys I work with. They were not impressed at first. Looked at it, marked olympic arms, not as solid feeling as a good AR. They saw the lower marked "auto-semi-safe" and were like "cool, you got a M-16". They know I have other FA's.

They couldn't believe it when I pulled the trigger and you could hear the motor winding and clanking away! Just sitting here, the lower looks real.

I think I might look for a MP5 now. Have to see what else is available. Everybody that sees it thinks it is really cool. And yes, most of them are married or are dating:D

Thanks all for the input.

Brian
