Has anyone found a mount for a Gopro that mounts on top of the barrel jacket? All I've been able to locate mount to the side or beneath the jacket. I'm going to the Cheyenne Wells shoot next month and want to video some of the action.

The only thing I can think of would be one of the optics mounts from BMG Parts. I will be there myself running my 1919 as well.

You could take off the rear sight and spring, put down one of the sticky bases and connect it to that. I don't know it'll the bolt recoil will make it gradually slope down though. I did that on a FA 50 once except it was mounted to the ammo can. All it did was slope down after a few rounds

Do you think the heat will melt it though?

I guess it depends on where it is mounted but you're probably right. I shoot belt-fed matches regularly (monthly) and have never heated the gun up enough that I could not grab the shroud. Now if the OP is going to really be cooking it, that'd be a different story and I'd look at a different mount. :D

I found another, out of billet aluminum, the problem is that the mount is one piece and it requires the maker's proprietary GoPro base which annoyingly has a allen head screw on it instead of a standard tightener. Granted the mount piece is aluminum but for that price they should provide an aluminum tightener!

Thanks guys. I thought about the clamp mount but that obscures the sight alignment. I was hoping to be able to see where I'm shooting. That might be the only option. The suction base mount I think is too small for the .30 but looks like it would work on the 50 fine.

I guess I'll keep looking for an optimal mount.
